If you are an NRI student studying in the United States and want to apply for AIIMS MBBS admission in 2027, there is one important correction to understand first: there is no separate AIIMS MBBS entrance registration form. AIIMS MBBS admission is through NEET UG, so the registration journey has two major stages:
2027 status: as of September 2026, NTA is still displaying the NEET UG 2026 cycle and the official NEET UG 2027 bulletin has not yet been published. USA-based NRI families should therefore prepare documents and eligibility now, but use the final 2027 NTA and MCC instructions when registration opens.
| Question | Answer |
| Is there a separate AIIMS MBBS registration form? | No. Register for NEET UG through NTA. |
| Is there a separate AIIMS MBBS entrance exam? | No. AIIMS MBBS admission is through NEET UG. |
| Do I register separately after NEET? | Yes. MCC counselling registration is separate from the NTA NEET application. |
| Where are AIIMS choices entered? | During MCC UG choice filling after the NEET result. |
| Can an NRI student in the USA apply? | Potentially yes, subject to NEET eligibility, AIIMS academic criteria, nationality/status and MCC rules. |
| Is there a general NRI quota at AIIMS? | Do not assume a general AIIMS NRI quota. The applicable category depends on the official AIIMS/MCC framework and the student's legal status. |
| Registration | Authority | Purpose | When? |
| NEET UG Registration | National Testing Agency (NTA) | To take NEET UG and receive a score/AIR. | Before the NEET exam. |
| MCC UG Registration | Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) | To participate in counselling and fill AIIMS choices. | After the NEET result. |
Completing NEET registration does not automatically register a student for AIIMS counselling. Missing the later MCC registration window can prevent a qualified student from competing for an AIIMS seat.
USA-based families often use “NRI” as a broad term, but the application process should begin by identifying the student's actual legal status. An Indian citizen living in the USA, an OCI cardholder and a U.S. citizen/foreign national should not automatically be treated as the same category.
| Status | Registration Planning Point |
| Indian Citizen Studying in USA | Use the applicable Indian-national NEET/AIIMS eligibility and MCC category rules. |
| OCI Cardholder | Check the current legal and official treatment of OCI candidates for the 2027 cycle before selecting status/category fields. |
| U.S. Citizen / Foreign National | Foreign-national eligibility must be checked separately. The latest available AIIMS MBBS prospectus has a foreign-national provision applicable to AIIMS New Delhi. |
Do not assume that satisfying general NEET eligibility automatically settles every AIIMS academic question. The latest available AIIMS MBBS prospectus states that AIIMS academic qualifications and minimum marks differ from those prescribed for many other medical colleges.
For Indian-national candidates in the AIIMS MBBS 2025 prospectus, the qualifying examination had to include English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The prospectus listed minimum aggregate marks in these subjects of 60% for General/OBC, 50% for SC/ST and 45% for PwBD. The final 2027 prospectus should be checked before relying on the same percentages.
For a U.S.-educated student, parents should review the official high school transcript, not just course names used informally at school.
| U.S. Transcript Check | What to Verify |
| Physics | Qualifying-level Physics appears in the academic record. |
| Chemistry | Chemistry is clearly documented in the transcript. |
| Biology | Biology/Biotechnology requirement is satisfied under the applicable rules. |
| English | English appears in the qualifying academic record where required. |
| Grades / GPA | Keep the school's official grading scale/conversion method available. |
Use NEET Eligibility for NRI Students and Can American Curriculum Students Give NEET? before registration.
| Document / Information | USA-Based NRI Student Check |
| Passport / Identity | Name, date of birth and nationality/status should match the application details. |
| OCI Card | Keep ready if applicable. |
| High School Transcript | Keep an official version showing relevant PCB + English coursework. |
| Diploma / Qualifying Certificate | Keep the final certificate when available. |
| Grading Scale | Useful where the school reports GPA, letter grades or a non-Indian marking scale. |
| Equivalence Documents | Investigate AIU/other equivalence requirements early if the qualification may require them. |
| Photograph / Signature | Prepare according to the final NTA 2027 upload specifications. |
| Email / Mobile Access | Use contact details the family can access reliably from the USA and during travel. |
When NTA opens NEET UG 2027 registration, complete the form through the official NEET portal. Do not use an old AIIMS registration page or a third-party form claiming to register students directly for AIIMS MBBS.
NRI families should treat the correction period seriously. Cross-border documentation makes spelling, nationality/status and academic-detail errors more difficult to fix later.
During the NEET application, students are registering to take the exam. They are not yet choosing AIIMS New Delhi or another AIIMS campus. College preference comes later during MCC counselling after NEET results are declared.
For the full examination workflow, see NEET Exam Process for U.S. Students.
MCC conducts counselling for 100% of MBBS seats across AIIMS institutions. Once the student receives the NEET result, the next registration is on the MCC UG counselling portal.
| MCC Stage | What the NRI Student Does |
| Registration | Create the MCC counselling registration within the official round window. |
| Fee / Security Payment | Pay the applicable counselling/security amount shown by MCC. |
| Seat Matrix Review | Check which AIIMS institutions/categories are available for that round. |
| Choice Filling | Add AIIMS New Delhi and other eligible AIIMS colleges in genuine preference order. |
| Choice Locking | Complete the locking process within the official deadline. |
| Allotment Result | Check seat allotment and follow the round-specific joining/upgradation instructions. |
| Profile | What Families Must Not Assume |
| Indian citizen living in USA | Do not assume residence abroad automatically creates a special AIIMS NRI seat. |
| OCI student | Do not assume OCI and NRI are interchangeable categories. Follow the current legal/admission treatment. |
| U.S. citizen / foreign national | Do not assume the same rules as an Indian NRI. The latest available AIIMS prospectus has a foreign-national provision specifically for AIIMS New Delhi. |
The latest available AIIMS MBBS prospectus says that when a foreign examination has to be considered equivalent to the Indian 10+2 system, a candidate may be required to produce an equivalence certificate from the concerned Indian university or the Association of Indian Universities. This is why U.S.-educated families should investigate equivalence before counselling and reporting, rather than discovering the issue after a seat is allotted.
However, do not treat equivalence as a one-size-fits-all rule. The exact 2027 requirement depends on the student's qualification and the final official instructions.
Registration deadlines are published in Indian time. A deadline that appears to be “tomorrow” in the United States may already be much closer in India. Families should always convert the deadline to their local U.S. time zone and aim to submit at least one or two days early.
Although it is not a third entrance registration, institute reporting functions like a separate operational stage. If the student receives an AIIMS seat, the allotted institute may require online/pre-reporting steps, original document verification, medical examination, fee payment and physical joining within a short window.
For families living in the USA, keep original documents, India travel funds and a flexible itinerary ready once counselling begins.
| Stage | Key Records to Keep |
| Before NEET | Passport/status records, official transcript, school qualification records, photographs/signature and equivalence information if relevant. |
| After NEET Registration | Application number, confirmation page, payment receipt, correction records. |
| Exam Stage | Admit card, prescribed ID and final exam instructions. |
| After Result | NEET scorecard/AIR and category/status documents. |
| MCC Counselling | MCC registration, payment/security records, saved/locked choices and allotment letter. |
| AIIMS Reporting | Original academic/identity documents and institute-specific forms listed in the reporting notice. |
AIIMS registration is only one part of the journey. USA-based NRI students must also handle NEET preparation, U.S.-to-NEET syllabus gaps, foreign-school eligibility, documents and MCC counselling.

Is there an AIIMS MBBS registration form for 2027?
There is no separate AIIMS MBBS entrance form. Students first register for NEET UG through NTA and later register for MCC counselling after the result.
Can I select AIIMS New Delhi during the NEET application?
No. College choice filling happens later during MCC counselling.
Can an NRI student from the USA register for NEET?
Potentially yes, subject to the current nationality/status, age and academic eligibility rules. The student's exact legal status and U.S. qualification should be checked before registration.
Do U.S. high school students need AIU equivalence?
It depends on how the student's foreign qualification is treated under the applicable AIIMS/NEET rules. The latest AIIMS prospectus allows AIIMS to require equivalence evidence when a foreign qualification has to be established as equivalent to Indian 10+2.
Does NRI status give a special AIIMS registration category?
Do not assume so. AIIMS does not function like a private college with a general NRI seat pool. Use the official MCC/AIIMS category framework for the student's actual legal status.
Is MCC registration compulsory for AIIMS?
Yes. MCC conducts counselling for 100% of AIIMS MBBS seats, so an eligible NEET-qualified student must participate in MCC counselling to compete for an AIIMS seat.
Can a U.S. citizen apply to AIIMS?
The latest available AIIMS MBBS prospectus contains a foreign-national provision specifically for AIIMS New Delhi. Foreign-national candidates must satisfy the applicable academic rules and clear NEET. Recheck the 2027 prospectus when published.
What if we make a mistake in the NEET application?
Use the official NTA correction facility where the relevant field is permitted to be corrected. This is why families should review every field before final submission and again during the correction window.
When should USA-based families start preparing for registration?
Before registration opens. Passport/status details, U.S. transcripts, subject eligibility and any equivalence questions should be reviewed in advance.
