Which portal owns the campus, approx paid NRI seats and fees, how AIQ differs from paid NRI, and when to start documents and coaching.
Those campuses fill AIQ and state merit only. There is no paid NRI column to shortlist there for 2027 planning on the last pattern we use.

Two paths parents ask about
When families say “NRI medical admission in Tamil Nadu,” they often mix a low-fee national seat with a paid private or deemed NRI seat. We keep the words separate.
About 15% of seats in the national pool, filled through MCC on NEET rank. This is not a seat reserved only for NRI students. Eligible candidates compete. Where AIQ leads to a government fee line, the yearly cost is usually far below a paid NRI private or deemed fee.
In Tamil Nadu, government campuses are AIQ or state merit only. If the family wants a low fee, plan for rank strength first - not a paid NRI file on a government name.
A separate NRI / OCI category on self-financing (DME) or deemed (MCC) campuses. Fees are much higher and are often quoted in rupees for DME self-financing and in USD or full-course totals for many deemed names.
Use this path when the family is ready to fund a private or deemed NRI seat and has picked the correct counselling portal for that campus.
Choose the correct login first
This is the Tamil Nadu mistake we correct most often on counseling calls. The campus decides the portal. The portal decides the document pack and the fee notice.
Self-financing private colleges in Tamil Nadu. Register on the state medical selection portal (tnmedicalselection.net on the last cycle). Deadlines run on IST. Do not add these names on MCC deemed.
Deemed universities. Register on mcc.nic.in. College demand, MCC rounds, and often USD or full-course fee sheets. A DME login will not allot these campuses.
CMC Vellore is a special case. It is not a normal “15% NRI quota” product like many deemed campuses. Families should read the live CMC and MCC rules carefully and talk to a counselor before treating it as a standard Category C style seat.
Approx fees
Last published named NRI totals for Tamil Nadu private and deemed seats ran from about ₹24.5 lakh on some self-financing rows up to much higher full-course figures on select deemed campuses. Always read the live college notice - yearly vs full-course is not the same column.

When to start
USA-based students need NCERT-first Biology and timed mocks on a US evening batch. Do not wait for counselling season to begin coaching. Parent counseling can set the score target before you pick DME vs deemed.
Decide whether the shortlist is mostly DME or mostly MCC deemed. Build the NRI / OCI / sponsor file for that portal. Keep passport name spellings identical across NEET and counselling forms.
Check if AIQ or any low-fee path is still realistic. If paid NRI is needed, register only on the portal that owns your campuses. Fill five to eight names you can actually fund.
Parent counseling and NEET coaching
Use a counseling call when you need help choosing DME vs MCC, reading a USD fee sheet, or deciding whether CMC-style rules fit your file. Bring the NEET score and a short campus list.
Admission planning fails when the score is weak. Start live USA-friendly batches in Grade 11 or early Grade 12. Trial class first, then a full plan.
Message with your time zone and whether you are looking at Madurai / Coimbatore (DME) or Chennai deemed names (MCC).
