The College of Engineering, Pune is an autonomous institute run by the Government of Maharashtra. Established in 1854, it is considered to be one of the oldest engineering colleges in Asia after IIT Roorkee. CoEP is consistently ranked among India’s top 25 engineering colleges and is also considered to be at the same standard as Tier I colleges like IIT and NIT.

CoEP is offering 9 undergraduate, 24 associate and doctoral degrees along with 4 PG Diploma courses in Management, Engineering and Technology.

At CoEP, admissions are centralized for B.Tech students enrolling in the first year of the course. Admissions are rendered via the Maharashtra Entry Exam (MHT-CET), the scores of which are mandatory.

Though M.Tech applicants must have GATE scores along with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology, they must be eligible for entry. Approximately 24 fields of specialization may be selected by the candidate when studying M.Tech at the CoEP.

Students willing to attend any of the 3 Post-Graduate Diploma courses offered at the CoEP must clear all interview rounds to be qualified for entry.

There is provision for admission to the second year of all programs by lateral entry on the basis of merit for Diploma applicants.

The Joint Entrance Exam or the JEE Mains are the examination conducted by the national Testing Agency (NTA). Qualifying JEE mains is one of the requirements for admission to some of the prestigious and renowned engineering colleges, including NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) and institutions funded by participating State governments.
