Official titles, AP / IB / Honors / regular, SL or HL, exam sat or not. The GPA is not the map.
US high school science is built for a US diploma, AP / IB exams and college admissions. NEET UG is built for one India medical-entrance paper. Those systems overlap. They do not match.
Official titles, AP / IB / Honors / regular, SL or HL, exam sat or not. The GPA is not the map.
Last published cycle on this site is NEET UG 2026. Confirm the 2027 NMC / NTA PDF before you freeze weeks.
Taught at NEET depth, touched, or absent. “We probably did that” is amber, not green.
A green label that fails a short NEET MCQ drill is amber. AP scores measure AP.
Two students in the same city can have opposite NEET maps. One sat AP Biology, AP Chemistry and AP Physics C. The other sat regular biology, one semester of chemistry and no physics after Grade 10. Both are “American curriculum.” Only the course names tell you what NEET still needs.
Grade, official title, level, and whether the exam was sat. Add math through Grade 12. State / NGSS, AP, IB and Honors are different maps.
Do not assume “US school = no overlap.” Do not assume “Treating AP Biology as NEET Biology done.” The transcript beats the brochure.
NEET UG 2026, as last published on this site, was one pen-paper paper: 180 questions, 180 minutes, 720 marks. The official syllabus was grouped as 20 Physics units, 20 Chemistry units, 10 Biology units. That is the comparison set for this page.
Mechanics through modern physics and experimental skills.
Physical, inorganic, organic and practical chemistry.
Diversity through ecology, physiology, reproduction and biotechnology.
+4 / -1 / 0. Same paper for every candidate. Last published pen and OMR.
2027 unit names and any CBT rumour stay unconfirmed here. Watch NTA / NMC. A later page on /neet/pages will carry the live 2027 unit list when NTA publishes it. Until then, map against the current official PDF, not a coaching recap.
AP Biology is a strong US course. It is not the NEET Biology book. Cells, genetics and ecology often transfer. Diversity, plant form and the long human-physiology stretch usually do not, not at NEET density.
| NEET Biology cluster | Typical AP Biology | What parents usually miss |
|---|---|---|
| Cells, cell cycle, biomolecules | Often well covered | NEET still wants NCERT wording and diagram recall |
| Photosynthesis and respiration | Strong conceptual overlap | Pathways and factual lists still need a NEET pass |
| Genetics and evolution | Often well covered | Pedigree and numerical practice is extra work |
| Ecology | Partial to good | India-exam examples and NCERT lists still need a pass |
| Diversity / taxonomy | Usually thin | A common “I thought we did biology” shock |
| Plant morphology and anatomy | Usually thin | AP labs do not replace these chapters |
| Human physiology (full stretch) | Partial | NEET asks the long NCERT sequence, not a survey |
| Reproduction (plant + human) | Partial | Treat as amber until you test with NEET MCQs |
Do not reteach cells from zero. Do not skip diversity because the AP score was high. Eligibility to sit is a different page: American-curriculum students and NEET.
Physical chemistry ideas such as moles, equilibrium, thermo and kinetics often feel familiar after AP Chemistry. Inorganic periodicity, p-block detail and the NEET organic named-reaction load usually do not. If the student only sat honors chemistry, assume a larger amber/red map until you check.
| NEET Chemistry cluster | Typical AP Chemistry | Extra work |
|---|---|---|
| Atomic structure and bonding | Often strong | NEET wording and problem types |
| Physical (equilibrium, thermo, kinetics, electrochemistry) | Often the strongest overlap | NEET numericals and NCERT examples |
| Inorganic (p-block, d/f-block, coordination) | Usually incomplete | Memory and exception lists the AP course skips |
| Organic (GOC through biomolecules) | Usually incomplete | Named reactions and NCERT mechanisms |
| Practical / qualitative ideas | Labs help reasoning | Not a substitute for the theory chapters |
AP Physics is not one course. AP Physics 1, Physics 2, Physics C Mechanics and Physics C E&M cover different slices. Honors physics is another slice. None of those titles, by itself, is “NEET Physics done.”
| US course | What it often gives NEET | What it usually does not |
|---|---|---|
| AP Physics 1 | Mechanics reasoning, some waves / fluids intro | The rest of the 20-unit Physics list |
| AP Physics 2 | Thermo, E&M survey, optics / modern intro | Depth NEET still asks on several units |
| AP Physics C: Mechanics | Strong calculus-based mechanics | E&M, optics, modern, and NEET-style MCQ pace |
| AP Physics C: E&M | Strong electricity and magnetism | Mechanics plus the rest of the paper |
| Honors / regular physics | Depends on the district syllabus | Assume amber/red until you read the unit list |
A student with Physics 1 only still has a Physics gap. A student with both C papers still has a paper-pattern gap. Map units, then test with NEET MCQs. Do not stop at the AP score.
We will not print “IB covers 80% of NEET.” That number is marketing. HL Biology plus HL Chemistry is a stronger starting map than regular PCB. SL-only science is thinner. A-Level can be close on some clusters and still miss India-exam units. Honors and regular courses are district-specific.
| Programme | What it can give | What to do for NEET |
|---|---|---|
| IB sciences | Reasoning, practicals, SL/HL depth that differs by subject | Map the exact SL/HL mix. The IB label is not a unit list. |
| Cambridge A-Level | Subject-specialist study and practicals | Cross-check unit by unit. Sequencing is not NEET’s. |
| Honors | Often deeper than regular high-school science | Ask for the course outline. Honors is not one nationwide syllabus. |
| Regular state / district | Can build a sound core | Expect more mapping. Titles alone do not finish the audit. |
A good plan does not throw AP or IB away to “start NCERT from page 1.” It keeps lab reasoning and adds the output NEET actually marks.
Lab reasoning, data analysis, written explanation and the habit of asking why. Those help on assertion-reason and experimental items.
NCERT-density recall, diagram labelling, exception lists and timed MCQ stamina. A different paper than a US free-response.
More Saturday time on already-green chapters does not paint a red unit green. Correct the map first.
Planning sketch for a student who sat AP Biology + AP Chemistry + one AP Physics. Your transcript can look better or worse. Use it to start the audit, not to skip the audit.
Cell basics, genetics core, physical chemistry ideas, mechanics reasoning if Physics 1 or C Mechanics was actually taken.
Human physiology, ecology detail, equilibrium numericals, organic GOC, waves / optics if only Physics 1 sits on the record.
Diversity / taxonomy, plant morphology and anatomy, inorganic p-block, large organic stretches, modern physics if no Physics 2 / C E&M.
A student can be eligible to sit NEET and still have a red Biology map. Another can have a strong AP science record and still need the document / qualifying-exam check. Keep two lists.
PCB + English, practicals where asked, age, and any foreign-qualification equivalence. Start at American-curriculum eligibility and NRI eligibility.
Green / amber / red on this transcript, then calendar weeks for each red unit. A complete passport file does not teach p-block.
Do this on paper or a shared sheet. One evening is enough to start. Updating it each term is the real work.
Grade, official title, AP / IB / Honors / regular, SL/HL, exam sat or not. Include math. Do not summarise as “did PCB.”
Live NMC / NTA PDF. Last published cycle here is 2026 (20 / 20 / 10). Confirm 2027 when NTA publishes it.
Green = taught at NEET-useful depth. Amber = touched. Red = absent or survey-only. No blanks.
A green label that fails a 15-question NEET drill is amber. This step measures the entrance paper.
Red units get weeks. Amber gets revision + drills. Green gets maintenance, not a second full course.
How early to start and the full Grade 9 to 12 year plan will sit on later pages. Until those pages are live, use the short grade table below and the /neet/pages hub. Do not skip the calendar. Do not turn this page into a full coaching timeline.
This is when to write the map, not the full year-by-year coaching calendar.
| Grade | School science (typical US) | What to do at this stage |
|---|---|---|
| 9 | Biology or integrated science | Start the course list. Do not wait for AP to begin the map. |
| 10 | Chemistry or next science | First full green/amber/red against current NEET units. |
| 11 | AP / IB / Honors PCB choices lock | Re-map after course selection. Schedule red units now. |
| 12 | Remaining AP / IB + exams | Close red, drill amber, maintain green. Do not start the first map here. |
NEET still lives in NCERT language for a large share of Biology and a serious share of Chemistry. That does not mean you discard AP or IB notes.
AP / IB notes, lab work and problem-solving. Do not bin them for a blind NCERT restart.
Amber and red units first. Wording layer on green Biology / Chemistry. Then NEET MCQs.
Timed MCQs, negative marking, mixed tests, full papers. Coverage is not the same as score.
Book lists and which-PDF questions belong on study materials, not on this map.
Stop asking how many hours. Ask what the student can do under test conditions.
Green, amber or red against the current official list. No blanks.
AP / IB “strong” topics have faced NEET-style questions.
Diversity, plants and physiology are not still “later.”
Inorganic and organic sit on a revision cycle, not a wish.
Coverage extends past Physics 1 where the 20-unit list still has holes.
Note the cause of the error (concept, memory, units or pace), not only the total.
Diversity and plant chapters will disagree.
Count the units. Then count the AP courses actually sat.
The gap was visible in Grade 10 if anyone wrote the course list down.
You lose the diploma and keep the jet lag. Fill around the school week.
A complete passport file does not teach p-block.
More time on green units leaves red units red.
These are syllabus shapes, not testimonials. Your child may sit between two of them.
Strongest overlap is usually cells / genetics / physical chemistry. Budget red time for diversity, plants, inorganic and organic. Add a named Physics course. Saying you will take physics later is not a unit map.
HL depth helps on overlapping clusters. SL-only science is a thinner map. Still mark taxonomy, India-exam physiology and NEET organic as their own rows. IB exams are not NEET drills.
Do not assume zero overlap. Do not assume coverage. Read the district unit list. Expect a larger amber/red board and an earlier start to the bridge calendar.
The coaching job after the audit is narrow: teach missing units, test them in NEET format, review the misses, and leave school AP / IB alone where it is already green. Live classes sit on US evening / India night slots so the weekday school day stays intact.
Transcript and course outlines against the current official units.
Missing NEET units only. No second full US course.
Chapter MCQs, mixed sets, full papers. Split concept from pace errors.
We do not sell a promised score. We do not replace the US high school. If the first question is whether this is even possible from the USA, use Crack NEET from the USA. Live batch design sits on NEET coaching in the USA.
Pick the span that matches remaining school years and the size of the red list. Test series and crash are for students whose audit is already mostly green. They are not a substitute for a red unit list. Hours are teaching hours. Confirm the live price on the course grid.

No. Not automatically. Some units overlap with AP / IB / Honors. Others never appear. Compare the transcript to the current official list.
No. Cells, genetics and ecology often help. Diversity, plant morphology / anatomy and the full human-physiology stretch usually need extra NCERT-density work.
Physical chemistry is often the strongest overlap. Inorganic and organic are usually incomplete. Honors-only chemistry is a larger gap until you check.
No. Physics 1 is not the full 20-unit list. Name the course (1, 2, C Mechanics, C E&M, or honors), then mark the units.
Stronger maps than regular PCB on overlapping clusters. Still not a percentage we will invent. Mark units the same way.
There is no universal list. In practice: Biology diversity and physiology, dedicated inorganic / organic chemistry, and any Physics slice the student’s actual AP or school sequence never taught.
That is a family decision about the diploma, not a requirement of this audit. Most US-based plans keep the school and fill NEET gaps around it.
Yes, on amber and red units, and as the wording layer on green Biology / Chemistry. No, you should not bin the AP notes.
No. Eligibility is whether the student may sit / claim a quota. This page is whether the chapters are actually taught.
Do not assume so. Where a foreign exam has to be treated as Indian Class 12, an equivalence certificate may be required. Check the actual qualification.
As soon as science courses are on the transcript. Grade 9 or 10 is early enough to be useful. Grade 12 is late for a first map. Full “how early” page comes later on the hub.
Possibly. Last published cycle here is 2026. Confirm the live NTA / NMC PDF before you freeze 2027 weeks. News that 2027 may move to CBT is not a new official syllabus.
Not on this page. Use the hub now. Dedicated pages will list there when they are live. Do not skip those questions. Do not dump them into a syllabus article.
