Use this when Grade 11-12 AP or Honors is still ahead and both NEET years must be taught in order, not crammed after SAT season.
View course detailsAt TestPrepKart we use this label for the program the student is sitting, not for where the family lives. A U.S. passport with a CBSE marksheet is not an American-curriculum case. An Indian passport in a Texas public high school is.
Families who write to us usually fall in one of these school tracks:
If the transcript can show full-year Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, plus lab work, NTA can treat it as a Class 12 equivalent. If a science subject is a one-semester elective, that is the first thing we ask the family to fix.
After you know the student can sit the paper, families still ask who actually got an NRI-category seat last cycle. This is the merit-list download from our NEET downloads section, not a promise for 2026.
Download the NRI candidate list PDFRead the live NTA NEET Information Bulletin for the attempt year. Percentages, accepted boards and centre lists move. The table below is the checklist we walk parents through before Grade 12 subject lock.
| Check | What usually qualifies | What we tell families to watch |
|---|---|---|
| Schooling | 12 years of school with Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology, and English | Half-credit or one-semester science is the most common reject later |
| PCB marks | About 50% General, 40% OBC/SC/ST, 45% PwD, after U.S. grades are converted | Ask the school for an official percentage conversion, not a screenshot of GPA |
| Age | 17 years by 31 December of the exam year. No upper age cap in recent bulletins | For 2026 attempts, that date is 31 December 2026 |
| Who may apply | Indian, NRI, OCI, PIO and foreign-passport students who meet the academic rule | Quota for MBBS is separate from the right to sit the paper |
| ID | Valid passport. OCI or PIO card if that is the status used on the form | Name spelling must match the school transcript |
| AIU letter | Asked when credits or labs do not map cleanly to Indian Class 12 PCB | Start this with AIU early. It is not a same-week document |
| Exam centre | India or another country NTA lists that year | There is currently no NEET centre in the United States |
If two of those rows are unclear, stop guessing from a Facebook thread. Confirm the bulletin, then the transcript, then the centre city you can actually travel to.
Yes, when the diploma includes full-year Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, and the science years include labs. AP, IB, Honors or an accredited homeschool wrapper on top of that diploma is fine. The diploma title alone is not the proof. The course list is.
Counselors ask for Grade 9-12 transcripts, not only the senior-year report. Lab hours, credit value and whether Biology was a year-long course show up there. If those lines are thin, NTA or a college can ask for an AIU equivalence certificate before counselling.
This is also why we do not tell Grade 10 families to “pick any science elective.” Dropping Physics in Grade 12 to protect an AP load is the mistake that shows up two years later on the NEET form.
A clean transcript gets the student into the exam hall. It does not teach NCERT wording, NEET timing, or negative marking. Families who only chase eligibility and ignore the syllabus gap usually meet the form, then under-score.
This is the same challenges clip used on the source blog. Watch it, then use the AP, IB, state-board and homeschool tables below.
Age (17 by 31 December of the exam year), PCB marks after conversion, nationality, and “no U.S. centre” are in the NTA table above. The four tables below are the extras that change a Grade 11 course request. This is the same information the source blog listed separately for AP, IB, state/Honors and homeschool.
Plan Grade 11-12 subjects before the school locks electives. A one-semester “intro physics” credit is the usual weak point later.
| What the file needs | What we look for on the transcript |
|---|---|
| Core subjects | Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English across Grades 11 and 12 |
| AP science set | AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and AP Physics 1 plus 2, or AP Physics C |
| Duration | Full-year courses. Half-credit or one-semester science is not treated as Class 12 equivalent |
| Labs | Chemistry and Physics must show practical / lab work, not lecture-only |
| What AP Physics C does not replace | NCERT theory chapters (semiconductors and the rest of the Class 12 book). It helps mechanics and E&M only |
Take the full two-year Diploma. Loose certificates or a one-year subject set are what trigger an AIU request.
| What the file needs | What we look for on the IB record |
|---|---|
| Core subjects | Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English across both Diploma years |
| Safer levels | Biology HL and Chemistry HL. Physics may be SL if it is a complete subject with practicals |
| Diploma vs certificates | Full two-year IB Diploma. Individual certificates or a one-year mix usually fail the academic standard |
| Labs | Supervised experiments and written lab reports, not theory-only SL notes |
| Marks | Convert IB grades to a percentage before you assume the 50% PCB line is cleared |
Texas, California, New York, Florida and other state diplomas work when PCB and English are year-long. Honors is only a level. It does not replace a missing subject.
| What the file needs | What we look for |
|---|---|
| Course duration | Full-year Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English in Grades 11 and 12 |
| Labs | Documented experiments and practical assignments on the official transcript |
| Accepted wrappers | State diploma plus Honors, if the science credits and labs are actually there |
| What not to send | A parent-portal report-card PDF. Counselling wants course codes and credit hours from the school |
Homeschool can sit NEET. Kitchen-table science without a recognised provider is the file that gets stuck.
| What the file needs | What we look for |
|---|---|
| Provider | An accredited U.S. homeschool program that can issue official records |
| Subjects | Full-year Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English |
| Labs | Supervised experiments with a maintained record of the work |
| AIU | Plan the letter from the start. Uncommon providers are asked for it more often than a standard AP package |
NTA checks identity and the qualifying exam on the form. MCC and state counselling ask again, and they often want the parent’s passport as NRI proof. Collect this while Grade 12 is still running. The clip and image below are the same documents asset used on the source blog.
Keep Grade 9-12 records, not only the senior-year report. Lab hours and course duration show up on the multi-year transcript. If those lines are thin, expect an AIU request before counselling.
| Document | Why it is asked |
|---|---|
| Valid passport | Main ID for NRI, OCI and foreign-passport students |
| OCI or PIO card, if that is the status | Must match the category used on the NEET form |
| Grade 10 marksheet or equivalent | Age and school history |
| Grade 12 / senior transcript | Shows PCB and English, and the converted marks |
| Grades 9-12 official record | Credits, course duration and lab work for AP, IB, state, Honors or homeschool |
| NRI status letter | Usually from the Indian Embassy or Consulate in the U.S., used more in counselling than on day one |
| U.S. address proof | Utility bill, lease, or state ID in the parent or student name |
| Photo and signature | NTA specs for the form and admit card |
| AIU equivalence, if asked | When the U.S. credit pattern does not map to Indian Class 12 PCB |
| Parent passport copy | Common NRI-sponsor proof at college reporting |
Sitting NEET is not the same as using an NRI seat. The eBook is for the second half: who can claim that route, which papers colleges ask for, and how fees differ by college type.
AP, IB and Honors train reasoning and labs. NEET still writes from NCERT Class 11 and 12. The three tables below are the same subject-gap list from the source blog, written so a parent can see what is missing.
| NCERT (NEET Physics) | AP / IB / U.S. Physics |
|---|---|
| All chapters: mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity, magnetism, optics, modern physics | Major topics, but more concept and lab time than memory of NCERT lines |
| Formula-heavy, factual, and tied to NCERT explanations | Fewer memory-based items; more reasoning and projects |
| Semiconductors, communication, and NCERT-style modern physics are on the paper | Those chapters are often missing or light. AP Physics C helps mechanics and E&M only |
| Speed plus negative marking on mixed Class 11-12 sets | School numericals are usually untimed |
| NCERT (NEET Chemistry) | AP / IB / U.S. Chemistry |
|---|---|
| Physical, organic and inorganic in full NCERT depth | Concepts, labs and experimental reasoning |
| Inorganic is memory-heavy: p-block, d-block, named reactions, tables | Does not teach detailed NCERT inorganic |
| Organic follows NCERT reaction mechanisms | Organic is more general and less mechanism-heavy |
| Many items copy NCERT tables and diagrams | Several NEET-only topics are missing or light. AP Chemistry is not Indian Class 12 depth |
| NCERT (NEET Biology) | AP / IB / U.S. Biology |
|---|---|
| Line-by-line book. Definitions and diagrams both score | Cell biology, genetics and ecology at a concept level |
| Plant and animal physiology, reproduction, genetics, biotech | Those NCERT chapters are often missing or taught lightly |
| Most of the Biology paper still comes from NCERT sentences and figures | Low coverage of reproduction, plant physiology, NCERT biotech and labelled diagrams |
| Detail and wording | Concept-first. AP Biology is a base, not a substitute book |
If the family can protect only one extra hour on a school night, that hour should be NCERT Biology or inorganic Chemistry, not another U.S. review packet.
NTA builds the paper on Indian Class 11-12, not on the College Board or IBO outline. Skipping NCERT to “save time” during AP season is how a capable student loses easy marks.
In Biology, wording and diagrams are the test. In Chemistry, inorganic tables are the test. In Physics, a missing NCERT chapter is a cluster of questions the student has never seen in AP class.
If the family can protect only one extra hour on a school night, that hour should be NCERT Biology or inorganic Chemistry, not another U.S. review packet.
This is the working list TestPrepKart counselors use when a U.S. parent asks “can my child sit NEET?” It is not a 10-hour hostel timetable.
Circle Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. If any one is missing or is a semester credit, change the next term before the school locks electives.
GPA alone does not prove the 50% PCB line. You need a letter or transcript note that converts grades the way counselling will read them.
There is no U.S. centre right now. Decide India or another listed country, passport validity, and who travels with the student. Do this before mock season, not the week the city list opens.
A short daily MCQ set beats a summer crash. Live classes on a U.S. evening batch help only if the student also reads the NCERT chapter that class just covered.
Names below match the families who asked the eligibility question, not a rank promise. Scores still depend on the student and that year’s paper.
She had AP Biology and AP Chemistry. Physics was a one-semester elective. The family thought the diploma would be enough. A TestPrepKart counselor asked the school to restore year-long Physics and listed which Grade 9-12 pages to scan for labs.
The NEET plan sat next to AP homework: NCERT Biology on weeknights, not a second full U.S. science course. The form question was settled before winter registration, not during it.
PCB and English were already year-long. The delay was paperwork: no percentage conversion, no parent-passport set, and no decision on a centre outside the U.S.
Once those three items had owners, the family stopped rereading eligibility blogs and used the evenings for chapter tests. That is the usual split: clear the file, then study.
The source blog used these two pictures for U.S. batch timing and live sessions. The point is simple: the student should not sit an India 6 a.m. class, and the recording is for a miss, not as the whole course.
These are the live U.S. prices on the course grid. Confirm the figure before you enroll. Hours are teaching hours, not a rank promise. The point of the class is the NCERT and MCQ layer the high school does not teach.

Yes. AP, IB, a U.S. diploma, Honors, accredited homeschool and dual enrollment can all lead to a NEET form if Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English are full-year courses and the age and marks rules in that year’s bulletin are met.
Yes, when the course list matches Indian Class 12 PCB plus English, including labs. The diploma cover page without those subjects is not enough.
No. Ask for it when credits, duration or labs do not map cleanly to Class 12 PCB. Homeschool files need it more often than a standard AP package with year-long sciences.
They are accepted as the school subjects if they are full-year with labs. They are not a substitute for NCERT. Half-credit or one-semester AP science is the combination we tell families to avoid.
Yes. Indian Class 12 science assumes practicals. If the transcript cannot show labs, expect an extra document request.
Not at present. Choose a centre in India or another country NTA lists for that year. Book travel after the admit card city is known, but decide the country earlier.
Recent bulletins have used about 50% General, 40% OBC/SC/ST and 45% PwD in Physics, Chemistry and Biology together. Convert the school grades officially. Do not average SAT scores into that number.
Yes, if the program is accredited, PCB and English are full-year with labs, marks convert to the required percentage, and records exist. Budget time for AIU if the provider is uncommon.
Yes. The paper is written from those books. AP and IB do not cover several NEET chapters at the same factual depth, especially Biology diagrams and inorganic Chemistry.
If the eligibility file is already clean and you need the class timetable next, use the NEET coaching page for students in the U.S. That page is about batches and the school-week plan, not about whether the student may sit the exam.
