MCAT is the usual exam. Undergraduate study comes first. This is not the route on this page.
For a family in the United States, an Indian MBBS can start after Grade 12. A US MD usually waits until after a bachelor degree. Cost can be lower than many private or overseas routes if the student can use a regular government fee. An NRI row is a different, higher bill. Check five things before you rank a campus: NEET eligibility, foreign-board equivalence, NRI or OCI papers, the fee notified for the year you will join, and the college ECFMG Sponsor Note if the student may later return to the US.
MCAT is the usual exam. Undergraduate study comes first. This is not the route on this page.
NEET-UG is mandatory. NRI rules and fees change by state or institute. That is the work here.
As of the source article (3 August 2026), several 2026-27 NRI seat and fee notices were still awaited. Treat older figures as last published, then confirm the live matrix. A 2027 official close does not exist yet.
| College | State / UT | Last published seats | Last verified fee | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| JLN Medical College, AMU | Uttar Pradesh | 5 Foreign National / NRI | US$120,000 at admission. Later annual IEF Nil in the 2025-26 guide | 2027 AMU notice |
| SVIMS-SPMCW, Tirupati | Andhra Pradesh | 23 listed earlier | ₹25,25,300 at reporting in the 2025-26 guideline | NTRUHS 2027 matrix. Women only |
| Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal | Madhya Pradesh | No NRI row on the verified 2025 government chart | Do not use the old US$12,000 / year claim | Only if the 2027 MP matrix opens an NRI row |
| IGMCRI, Puducherry | Puducherry | CENTAC listed NRI seats in the last completed session | Use the live CENTAC / IGMCRI notice | Do not carry 22 seats or US$100,000 / year |
| GMCH, Chandigarh | Chandigarh | 9 listed earlier | US$110,000 admission + US$1,000 registration in the 2025 prospectus | 2027 centralized prospectus. Not US$100,000 every year |
| GMERS, Gandhinagar | Gujarat | Through the Gujarat Admission Committee | As notified. Do not carry US$20,000 / year | Current Committee fee circular |
| Government Medical College, Patiala | Punjab | 13 listed earlier on this article | US$110,000 for the full MBBS course in the 2025 prospectus | BFUHS 2027 prospectus |
| Pt. B.D. Sharma PGIMS, Rohtak | Haryana | Confirm the live Haryana matrix | US$125,000 for the entire course in the 2025 notice | Do not reuse US$25,000 + US$12,500 / year |
| Government Medical College, Kota | Rajasthan | Confirm the live Rajasthan matrix | Do not use the old US$10,000 / year “cheapest” line | 2027 Rajasthan fee order |
| Government Medical College, Amritsar | Punjab | 13 listed earlier on this article | US$110,000 for the full MBBS course in the 2025 prospectus | BFUHS 2027 prospectus |
There is no single NRI rule for every medical college in India. Citizenship, OCI status, sponsor relationship and the counselling desk all change the file. Read the current notice. Do not rely on an old PIO card. The full paper list sits on the NRI eligibility page.
Yes, if that desk accepts the NRI seat rules. Indian passport plus overseas residence proof.
Possible. Not automatic on every NRI row. OCI card plus foreign passport. Check the state or institute rule.
Depends on the current passport and OCI papers. Do not assume an old PIO card still works.
Only where the institute keeps a separate Foreign National or NRI door. AMU uses this label.
Yes. NEET-UG qualification is compulsory for MBBS in India, including an NRI category seat. Last published exam pattern is below. A 2027 official date sheet does not exist until NTA publishes it. There was no US centre in the last completed cycle. Travel to India or an NTA overseas city. Centre facts sit on the exam centres page.
Compulsory for government, private and deemed MBBS.
Compulsory MCQs. Last published pattern.
Three hours. Last published ceiling.
Last cycle had no US city. Plan travel early.
Equivalence may be asked. Keep the board papers.
Checkout few of the app features below.
These files follow the source article. Confirm the live notice before you treat a seat count or a fee as current.
Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh · institute notice
Later annual institutional economic fee is shown as Nil in that guide. Keep hostel and university charges separate. Read the 2027 AMU Foreign National / NRI notice before you put this campus high on a list.
Andhra Pradesh · Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women · NTRUHS
That reporting figure is the 2025-26 NRI guideline, plus hostel deposits. A boy cannot take this seat. Use the SVIMS document list, not a generic Indian-passport assumption. State seats and the ₹25 lakh line also sit on the Andhra Pradesh NRI page.
Madhya Pradesh
The older page showed 5 NRI seats at US$12,000 a year. That figure is out. The verified MP 2025 government MBBS seat chart lists NRI seats at private colleges, not here. Keep Bhopal on a comparison only if the 2027 MP matrix opens an NRI row.
Puducherry · CENTAC
Do not carry 22 seats or US$100,000 a year. Sponsor and relationship rules on the CENTAC notice can differ from Punjab or Gujarat. Read that list before you lock a choice.
Chandigarh Union Territory · centralized prospectus
That is the 2025 prospectus admission fee plus registration, plus university charges. It is not US$100,000 every year. The same prospectus defines Foreign Indian Student / NRI relationships and asks for equivalency when school was outside India.
Gujarat · government self-finance · Admission Committee
GMERS is a Gujarat Government trust campus, not a private shop. There is no separate management quota outside this process. Do not carry an old US$20,000 / year figure. The last published GMERS block on the state atlas is a planning map, not the 2027 circular.
Punjab · BFUHS
That full-course figure is the verified Punjab 2025 prospectus, subject to a later government revision. A Punjab family link does not create a preference unless the current order says so. Confirm the BFUHS 2027 seat split. The state atlas may show a different last-cycle row.
Haryana
That is the verified 2025 Haryana notice for NRI candidates in government medical colleges. The older US$25,000 plus US$12,500 a year pattern belongs to a different government-aided category. Do not use it for PGIMS. Check installment rules before you move money from overseas.
Rajasthan
The older page called Kota the cheapest option at US$10,000 a year. That line is out. Confirm seat count, annual fee, payment currency and sponsor papers on the live Rajasthan notice before you rank this campus on cost.
Punjab · BFUHS
Same last published Punjab 2025 full-course figure as Patiala, subject to revision. Compare current seats, clinical load and counselling rules. A diaspora background, by itself, is not an admission advantage.
A five-year guess misleads families. Some desks publish a full-course dollar amount. Others collect a reporting-year rupee bill. Budget from the format actually notified. Hostel, deposit and FX sit extra.

| JLN Medical College, AMU | US$120,000 at admission. Later annual IEF Nil in the 2025-26 guide | Keep hostel and university charges separate |
| SVIMS Tirupati | ₹25,25,300 at reporting in the 2025-26 guideline | Add hostel deposits. Confirm the 2027 fee |
| GMCH Chandigarh | US$110,000 + US$1,000 + charges in the 2025 prospectus | Not US$100,000 every year |
| Punjab government (Patiala / Amritsar) | US$110,000 full course in the 2025 prospectus | Subject to a Punjab Government revision |
| Haryana government / PGIMS | US$125,000 full course in the 2025 notice | Confirm installment rules |
| GMERS Gandhinagar | As notified by the Admission Committee | Do not carry US$20,000 / year |
| GMC Kota | Use the live Rajasthan fee order | The old US$10,000 / year line is out |
| GMC Bhopal | NRI route not confirmed on the 2025 government chart | Do not budget an NRI seat unless the 2027 matrix opens one |
Settle this before you transfer an NRI fee. An Indian citizen studying in the US may still have AIQ or an eligible state route. A US-passport or OCI student may sit on a different rule. Work out the student’s own category first.
NEET is still mandatory. The applicant must meet that desk’s NRI, OCI or Foreign Indian rules. Fees are notified separately and are usually much higher. Counselling is state, institute or MCC, depending on the campus.
NEET is still mandatory. The applicant must meet AIQ or state citizenship and domicile rules. The fee is regular government tuition where the student is eligible. Competition is usually sharper.
These three TestprepKart case references show a point families miss. A student living in the US can still enter a government medical college through AIQ, not an NRI seat, if the papers and the score allow it.
These are planning sketches from the source article, not a 2027 allotment list. Scores stay with their exam year.
AP Chemistry, AP Biology and AP Physics C in Houston. She joined the TestprepKart 2-year plan in Grade 11. Outcome in the case file: a government medical college in Rajasthan through AIQ / MCC. Check AIQ before you assume NRI is the only door.
First attempt 312 / 720 on her own. Drop year with daily classes and weekly full tests. Second score 541, up 229 marks. Outcome in the case file: an AIQ government seat through MCC Round 2.
Started in Grade 9 beside a US school week. School Biology and Chemistry were lined up with NCERT, then full mocks in Grade 12. Outcome in the case file: an AIQ government seat in Karnataka.
The exam process page has the NTA folder. This list is the college-choice chain after NEET.
Register with NTA. Choose a centre in India or an approved overseas city. There is no US centre.
Indian passport, OCI or foreign citizenship, NRI status and sponsor relationship, before counselling starts.
Foreign-board students should collect any equivalence or eligibility paper the university or desk asks for.
MCC for AIQ. State or institute portal for that NRI row. Deemed NRI is a different list.
NEET scorecard, passport or OCI, NRI proof, sponsor papers, and Grade 10 / 12 records.
Compare the current seat row, fee and eligibility rule before you lock a preference.
Follow the reporting deadline, fee instruction and original-document list for that round.
If the student may return for residency, read the college ECFMG Sponsor Note and the graduation years it covers.
TestprepKart does not sell a government NRI seat. The state or institute still allots it. The work is the exam, the papers and a shortlist that matches the live notice.
AP, IB and US high-school science do not always match NEET / NCERT. A gap review finds missing chapters early.
Citizenship, OCI or NRI papers, sponsor relationship and the correct counselling door, before choice filling.
Live classes, mocks, doubt support and tracking for a student preparing from outside India.
Compare AIQ, state and NRI routes on the current seat matrix and fee notice, not an older cycle.
A college shortlist does not replace a week plan. Hours are teaching hours. Confirm the live price on the course grid.

Shortlist desks that have already published the current admission-year NRI fee and payment instruction.
First check whether citizenship and status allow AIQ or a regular state route, before you commit to NRI fees.
Open the World Directory listing and read the ECFMG Sponsor Note for the expected graduation year. A listing alone is not enough.
Do not lock choices until the desk confirms OCI or NRI status, sponsor relationship and foreign-school equivalence.
Yes, if nationality and qualifying-exam rules are met. The admission category after NEET depends on citizenship or OCI status and the counselling desk that applies.
No. A US or other foreign-school qualification can work if it meets equivalent Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology, and English. Some desks also ask for an equivalence certificate.
There is no single safe NRI cutoff. The student must first qualify NEET. Opening and closing scores change by college, state, round, seat count and applicant load.
It depends on the desk. Some prospectuses quote US dollars through an NRE account or demand draft. Others notify rupees. Follow the current-year payment instruction.
Yes, if the student later meets ECFMG and US residency rules. That now includes the medical-school eligibility requirements, Step 1, Step 2 CK and the current clinical and communication pathway. Step 2 CS is no longer a current exam.
No. Open the school listing and read the Sponsor Note for the expected graduation year. Being listed, by itself, is not enough.
Not on the verified MP 2025 government MBBS seat chart. Do not budget an NRI fee there unless the 2027 MP matrix opens a row.
