All India Quota
Participating states move 15% of eligible government MBBS seats into the MCC AIQ pool. Indian, NRI, OCI and PIO candidates compete where their category and papers allow. This is not an NRI-only reservation.
The admission path after the result sits on the NRI quota admission page. This page is only the reservation arithmetic.

Last published MCC 2026 framework: 15% of seats in participating deemed universities are NRI category. MCC runs those 100% deemed seats. State and private NRI rows sit on a different desk.
NMC has published a 2026-27 MBBS seat matrix. Totals move when approvals change. The snapshot below is the article’s last retained count. Do not multiply 15% through these numbers and call that your 2027 NRI seat total.
Medical colleges named in the last retained snapshot
Government colleges · 49,417 last published seats
Private colleges · about 50,000 last published seats
Last published government plus private seat total
Inside the government side of that snapshot: 388 government and semi-government campuses, and 52 deemed universities. Deemed 15% NRI is a slice of that deemed set, not of 129,602.
Qualify NEET first. Then pick the desk that actually owns the seat. Government campuses that listed an NRI row sit on the government NRI seats page.
15% AIQ seats from participating government colleges. Open on merit and eligibility. Not labelled NRI-only.
Last published: 15% of participating deemed seats as NRI category. MCC runs 100% of those deemed seats.
Whatever that state notice writes. Fees, papers and the share can differ from MCC deemed 15%.
NRI quota is not General, Management, OBC, SC or ST by default. It is the category the chosen desk verifies. AIIMS has no separate NRI row. Do not copy this 15% onto AIIMS.
If a government campus is the goal, eligible candidates compete on General AIQ. If a labelled NRI seat is the goal, look at deemed MCC first, then the state that owns the private row.
| AIQ 15% | NRI quota 15% | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it sits | Participating government colleges, plus other MCC open seats as written | Deemed universities under MCC, plus state or private rows where notified |
| Who it is for | Not reserved only for NRI students | Candidates who satisfy that desk’s NRI, OCI or sponsor rule |
| Score | Qualify NEET, then compete on merit, choice and leftover seats | Qualify NEET. Closing mark moves by college and round |
| Fee | Usually the government AIQ fee | Usually much higher. Named totals sit on the fee page |
| Who allots | MCC for the AIQ seats it runs | MCC for deemed NRI. The state for most private NRI rows |
NRI quota is also not management quota. Some private colleges keep both labels. The fee and the papers change with the letter.
Last published 2026 process was online. If the file fails, NRI choices stay closed. Start the papers before the registration week, not during it.
Choose the NRI option and the subcategory that matches the file.
Put the supporting papers inside the notified window.
MCC’s NRI verification team reads the file online.
A mismatch can get one correction window. Use it.
Only after accept do the NRI seat choices appear.
| Paper | Why MCC asked for it last cycle |
|---|---|
| Date of birth | Age and identity must match the NEET record |
| Class 10 and 12 | Qualification and subject proof |
| NEET-UG scorecard | The exam that opens every MBBS desk |
| Valid passport | Citizenship of the candidate, not the US house |
| Embassy / consulate NRI certificate | Where that subcategory needs it |
| Sponsor affidavit and NRE support | Where a relative is paying |
| Relationship or guardianship proof | Ward-of-NRI files fail without it |
A ZIP code in Texas or New Jersey does not pick AIQ or NRI. The passport, the school file and the verified category do.
Read the current passport and, if it exists, the OCI card. Names must match across every paper.
Keep Grade 10 and Grade 12 ready. Foreign boards may need an equivalence letter later.
NRI quota is not a pass mark. A qualified score still has to beat that college’s last leftover seat.
