Hi, I’m TestprepKart.

The old FAQ format on this page was written for the earlier AIIMS entrance system, with separate AIIMS registration, AIIMS admit cards, AIIMS exam centres and AIIMS counselling. That process is no longer the correct pathway for MBBS admission. For current AIIMS MBBS admission, students qualify through NEET UG and participate in MCC counselling.
For USA-based NRI, OCI and foreign-national families planning for 2027, the key questions now involve NEET eligibility, foreign-school qualifications, application documents, exam logistics, MCC counselling, AIIMS seat eligibility and original-document verification.
Check My AIIMS / NEET Eligibility
| Question | Current Answer |
| Is there a separate AIIMS MBBS entrance exam? | No. AIIMS MBBS admission is through NEET UG. |
| Who conducts the entrance examination? | National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts NEET UG. |
| Who conducts AIIMS MBBS counselling? | Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts counselling for 100% of AIIMS MBBS seats. |
| Is there a separate AIIMS application form? | No separate AIIMS MBBS entrance application is used. Candidates register for NEET UG and later for MCC counselling. |
| Are 2027 dates announced? | Final 2027 NEET and MCC dates should be checked when the official 2027 notices are released. |
Use the official AIIMS examination website for the AIIMS New Delhi MBBS prospectus and institute-specific admission information. For entrance-exam rules, use the official NEET UG information bulletin from NTA. For seat allocation and counselling rules, use MCC.
Important: do not rely on an old AIIMS entrance prospectus for application, admit-card or exam-centre instructions because the MBBS admission pathway has changed.
Not for a separate AIIMS MBBS entrance examination. For 2027, candidates should follow the login and registration process specified by NTA for NEET UG and then the separate MCC registration process for counselling. The exact 2027 login method, credentials and portal instructions should be taken from the official notices for that cycle.
Changes are allowed only if NTA provides a correction window and permits that particular field to be edited. Do not assume that an exam city can be changed after the correction period closes. USA-based students should choose exam-city preferences carefully because travel planning may be significant.
The exact list can change from year to year. Candidates should follow the 2027 NTA bulletin for required photographs, signatures, identification details, certificates and any other uploads. Do not copy document dimensions or upload rules from an older AIIMS application page.
USA-based NRI and foreign-school students should also make sure that their name, date of birth and other personal details are consistent across school records, passport and application documents.
Note: not every U.S. student automatically needs the same equivalence certificate. The requirement depends on the qualification and the applicable admission rules.
Do not treat AIU equivalence as a blanket requirement for every U.S.-educated applicant. The latest AIIMS New Delhi MBBS prospectus states that where AIIMS has to determine whether a foreign qualification is equivalent to the Indian 10+2 system, the candidate may need an equivalence certificate from the concerned Indian university or the Association of Indian Universities. The exact requirement should be checked for the student's qualification and 2027 admission rules.
Use the correction facility if the applicable portal allows the field to be corrected. If discrepancies remain across passport, school records or application documents, obtain the supporting legal/documentary proof requested by NTA, MCC or AIIMS. Do not wait until physical reporting to identify a mismatch.
Students should expect original-document verification during the admission/reporting process. MCC and the allotted AIIMS institute publish the exact reporting and verification requirements for each cycle. Keep originals and clear scanned copies organized before travelling from the USA.
Only changes specifically permitted by the official correction window can be made. Nationality, category, OCI/foreign-national status and related fields can affect eligibility and seat treatment, so enter them carefully at the application stage and follow the exact correction rules published for 2027.
Do not assume there is a general NRI quota across AIIMS MBBS seats. NRI status and foreign-national status are not the same thing. An Indian citizen living in the USA, an OCI cardholder and a U.S. citizen/foreign national can fall under different rules.
The latest available AIIMS New Delhi MBBS prospectus has a specific foreign-national provision for AIIMS New Delhi. That should not be interpreted as a general NRI quota for every AIIMS campus.
OCI candidates should check the NEET bulletin, MCC counselling rules and AIIMS prospectus applicable to the admission year. OCI status should not automatically be treated as either NRI quota or foreign-national status. The applicable legal and counselling framework determines how the candidate is treated.
A foreign national should review the specific foreign-national eligibility provision in the AIIMS New Delhi prospectus, along with NEET eligibility. The latest available AIIMS New Delhi prospectus includes a foreign-national provision, but families should recheck the 2027 prospectus because seat numbers, documents and conditions can change.
No separate AIIMS MBBS entrance admit card is used. Candidates use the NEET UG admit card issued through NTA for the entrance examination.
No. Candidates appear at the NEET examination centre allotted by NTA. The final 2027 exam-city and centre rules should be taken from the NEET 2027 bulletin and admit card.
MCC conducts counselling for 100% of MBBS seats across AIIMS institutions. After the NEET result, eligible candidates register for MCC UG counselling, complete choice filling, select AIIMS options in their preferred order and follow the allotment/reporting process.
This replaces the old separate in-person AIIMS counselling process described on older pages.
MCC registration and choice filling are conducted online. Physical reporting is required according to the instructions for the allotted institute and counselling round. USA-based families should plan travel only after reviewing the official allotment and reporting instructions.
There is no single fixed score that guarantees an AIIMS seat. Closing ranks and scores vary by year, category, AIIMS campus, counselling round and candidate pool. Use historical cutoffs only as planning references, not guarantees for 2027.
During MCC choice filling, eligible candidates can list multiple available AIIMS choices in order of preference, subject to the counselling rules and seat matrix for that year.
No. Prepare from the official NEET UG syllabus. There is no current separate AIIMS MBBS entrance syllabus or General Knowledge/Aptitude section for AIIMS admission.
