1. Is the CIWG Scheme available for the 2026–27 admission cycle? Yes. CIWG remains available for 2026–27, offering reserved seats for children of Indian workers in Gulf countries. Eligibility, fee rules, and documentation requirements remain similar to previous years but must be reconfirmed once the official DASA brochure is released.
2. How much is the tuition fee under the CIWG scheme for NITs? CIWG students pay the same tuition fee as Indian residents—approximately ₹62,500 per semester at most NITs. Hostel, mess, and institute-specific charges are extra. Final fee updates for 2026–27 should be checked in the official DASA portal.
3. Can NRI students living in the USA apply under CIWG? Yes, but only if one parent is employed in an eligible Gulf country (UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia). Evidence of employment—passport, visa, work permit, and employer certificate—is mandatory for CIWG category approval.
4. What documents must be submitted for CIWG eligibility during admission? Applicants must upload the parent’s passport, Gulf visa, work permit (if applicable), and employer certificate in Appendix-III format. These documents must clearly verify active employment in a CIWG-eligible Gulf nation for 2025–26 admissions.
5. Are CIWG seats separate from DASA seats in NITs and other institutes? Yes. 1/3rd of all DASA seats are exclusively reserved for CIWG applicants. If CIWG seats remain unfilled in later rounds, they are transferred to the general DASA category. CIWG students can opt for both categories when applying.
6. What is the registration fee for CIWG applicants? The registration fee is USD $300 (non-refundable). CIWG students must also pay the first-semester fee during application. Updated 2026–27 payment instructions will be confirmed in the new DASA brochure.
7. Do CIWG students follow the same JEE Main requirement as DASA? Yes. CIWG admissions, like DASA are strictly based on JEE Main Percentile and AIR. SAT and SAT Subject Tests are not accepted. Students in the USA and Middle East must appear for JEE Main in 2026 for eligibility.
8. What payment modes are available for CIWG/DASA fee submission? Applicants may pay through credit/debit cards, international cards, or SWIFT transfer. A transaction ID is generated upon successful payment, which must be saved for verification. The updated payment gateway for 2026 is pending confirmation.
9. Are CIWG fees refundable if a student withdraws or does not get a seat? The USD $300 registration fee is non-refundable. Tuition fee refund rules follow DASA policies and depend on withdrawal deadlines. Applicants must verify refund timelines in the official 2026–27 brochure.
10. How do NRI students choose between CIWG and general DASA categories? Students can apply for CIWG only, DASA only, or both. If opting for both, the higher fee must be paid initially. If allotted a CIWG seat, the fee difference is refunded according to the official DASA refund guidelines.
