DASA 2026 seat allotment is the final step where eligible NRI, OCI, PIO and Foreign National students are allocated seats in NITs, IIITs, SPAs, IIEST Shibpur, Other-GFTIs and other participating technical institutes.

DASA seat allotment is done post registration, fee payment, document verification and choice filling.
The allotment process considers:

Random filling of choices by the students should not be done. The order of options is important because the system evaluates preferences in sequence using the student’s rank ordering and seat availability.
A good choice list should include:

DASA Round 1 seat allotment result will be announced online. Students need to login to the official portal to check whether they have been allotted a seat.
Students are required to select the correct willingness option after the Round 1 allotment. This is a very important decision since it determines if the student accepts the seat, waits for an upgrade, rejects the seat or quits the process.
After seat allotment candidates may get different willingness options on the basis of their allotment status.

Students should pick these options with great care. If Float or Slide is used to upgrade, the old seat is vacated and cannot be taken back.

Many parents get confused between Freeze, Float and Slide. Here is a simple explanation:

| Freeze | Choose this if you are satisfied with the allotted college and branch |
| Float | Choose this if you want a better college or branch from your higher choices |
| Slide | Choose this if you want a better branch in the same allotted institute |
Example: If a student gets Mechanical Engineering at NIT Calicut and wants Computer Science at any higher preferred institute, Float may be a good option. Slide may be good if the student wants only better branch in NIT Calicut.
DASA Round 2 seat allotment is done after willingness submission of DASA Round 1. Students selecting Float, Slide or other eligible options may be reconsidered depending on available seats and their choice order.
In case a student gets an upgraded seat in Round 2, the earlier allotted seat is automatically cancelled. The student is not allowed to ask to return to the old seat.
So, students should fill the choices carefully before locking and should choose only willingness options after understanding the consequences.
Often on old DASA pages, tie-breakers based on Mathematics marks, Physics marks or age are mentioned. This should be taken out for DASA 2026.
DASA 2026 is on the basis of JEE Main 2026 Common Rank List in its current form. DASA does not have a separate tie-breaking rule.
In case two or more candidates have the same JEE Main Common Rank List rank and are competing for the same academic program the procedure will be as per the official DASA rule.
If a student does not get a seat in Round 1, he/she can still be considered in the next round as per the rules and options available on the portal.
If you’re a student without a seat assignment, don’t panic. They have to check if they qualify for the next round and if they have to do anything from their side.
They should also keep checking the official portal as important instructions are not always sent separately by mail.
After the final seat acceptance stage, students must report physically to the allotted institute.
