9. Environmental Engineering:
Environmental engineering is applied coursework designed with a base from chemistry, life sciences, geology, and hydraulics. This course was introduced to prepare candidates to solve environmental issues to benefit both humans and the environment. With global warming at its peak, environmental engineers have a wider scope in today’s world. It is considered a sub-discipline from chemical and civil engineering.
Governments of various countries are enacting laws to reduce environmental pollution. This intern creates a thrust for top industries to employ environmental engineers. IIT Madras, Bombay, and Kharagpur are considered the top institutes if you wish to pursue environmental engineering.
10. Electronics and Communication Engineering:
ECE combines two major streams of engineering namely, Electronics and Computer science. Some facts state that the demand for EC engineers is increasing every day. This is parallel to our growing high-speed internet needs and ultra- fast processors in the devices. This stream deals with control systems, communication, and robotics. The IITs and NITs top the list of institutes that create quality EC engineers.
Electronics is also combined with systems engineering, telecom engineering, and instrumentation engineering. These courses are very much similar to that of an EC degree, with very little variations in the course work.
11. Electrical and Electronic Engineering:
EEE’s coursework is designed to understand the circuit functioning and to know on the computerized devices. With automation taking the upper hand in industries, EE engineers are on demand. All IITs and NITs offer this course. Institutes like MIT, VIT, BITS, and PSG are also considered top in the country.
12. Food technology:
Mechanization in the field of production and processing of food products has given birth to newer courses like Food processing engineering, Food engineering, Food engineering technology, and Food technology with common subjects and minor variations in coursework. The aim is to provide quality food in numerous quantities. The coursework combines basic microbiology, physical and chemical sciences along with engineering to make it applicable in the field of food.
It also covers the basics of Plant operation and norms to be followed for food production (FDA and HACCP).
NIT Trichy and IIFTP (Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology) specialize by providing this course.
13. Industrial Design:
Industrial design involves designing products that are to be produced on a large scale. A BID degree (Bachelor of Industrial Design) is a gateway to numerous industries. Any industry that performs large scale production requires an industrial designer, to create feasible designs. Post graduation can be done as a master of design to specialize in this course.
Symbiosis Institute of Design and Vellore Institute of technology top the list of preferred colleges.
14. Information Technology:
A B.Tech(Information Technology) degree aims to suffice the candidate with the knowledge of generating and flow of information. This mainly deals with the software and database systems. It differs from the CSE coursework with more importance given on the data and management aspect. If you love working on data and databases, then IT is your choice.
