Seat allotment under the DASA/CIWG scheme is strictly based on a valid JEE Main 2026 All India Rank and the college/branch choices submitted by merit applicants on the DASA portal.

Only the best JEE Main 2026 score of an applicant is considered for the merit list.
This applies to all eligible NRI students studying in the USA and Middle East.
Applicants upload their JEE Main Rank directly on the official DASA portal during the 2026 application period.
The DASA conducting NIT prepares a merit list based on:
Tie-breaking priority is expected to remain the same:
Seat allotment is fully automated based on:
Higher-ranked applicants (especially NRIs from the USA and Gulf countries) have better weightage in top branches such as:
The institute and course offered during each round depend on your merit position and order of preference.
For DASA/CIWG admissions in 2026, only the JEE Main 2026 All India Rank is considered, this applies to all NRI applicants living in the USA and Middle East (UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia).
Applicants must upload their official JEE Main 2026 Rank directly on the DASA application portal during the submission window.
DASA also does not require submission of multiple scorecards. Your All India Rank (based on your best attempt) is enough for merit list preparation.
If you’re planning to apply under the DASA/CIWG quota for 2026 or later, especially from the USA or Gulf countries, you must focus on scoring well in JEE Main 2026, as it is now the single deciding factor for admissions.

DASA now prepares the merit list based on the candidate’s JEE Main All India Rank (AIR) submitted through the official application portal.
In the event that two or more candidates have the same JEE Main rank, DASA does not apply any separate tiebreak-rules, the common rank list (CRL) from NTA is used as is.
If seats are limited under a certain category and multiple candidates share the same rank and apply for the same course, DASA may create additional supernumerary seats rather than use older tie-breaking systems.
You must apply once the DASA 2026 online application form is released. In recent cycles, applications have opened in June and closed by late June (final dates will be published in the official brochure). The entire process is online and convenient for NRI students across the USA and Middle East.
Seat allotment under DASA/CIWG is based strictly on JEE Main All India Rank. DASA prepares a merit list and conducts multiple online rounds, where your rank, branch/institute choices, and category (DASA or CIWG) determine final allocation. TestprepKart guides you through each stage, so you fully understand how the allotment works.
In Round-1, all eligible applicants are considered for seat allotment based on their JEE Main AIR and filled choices. The Round-1 result is published on the official DASA website (expected in late June 2026). No individual notifications are sent, so students must check the portal regularly. If the allotted seat is not accepted within the given deadline, the seat is cancelled and Round-2/3 eligibility may also be lost.
In Round-1, DASA groups applicants into two categories based on their allotment:
1. Applicants Allotted Their First Choice
2. Applicants Allotted Other Than Their First Choice
In Round-2, DASA considers:
Seat allotment results for Round-2 are expected to be published in the first week of July 2026.
[Exact publication dates will be confirmed in the official DASA 2026 brochure]
Applicants, especially NRIs from the USA and Middle East (UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia), must regularly check the official portal, as DASA does not issue personal notifications.
DASA splits Round-2 decisions into two categories:
1. Applicants allotted their first choice of institute/program in Round-2
You will get two options:
1. Hit Accept
If you wish to accept the allotted institute/program in Round-2, download the Provisional Allotment Letter and keep it ready for reporting to the allotted institute.
This is important especially for NRI students from the USA and Middle East (UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia), as the Provisional Letter may be required for travel or visa documentation during reporting.
2. Hit Decline
If you do not wish to accept the allotted seat, DASA treats it as a rejection if you fail to accept within the official deadline.
Such applicants will not be eligible for Round-3, but can participate in Round-4 & Spot Round after re-registration and paying an additional USD 300.
[Exact Round-2 acceptance deadline for 2026 will be confirmed in the official DASA 2026 brochure]
2. Applicants allotted a program that is not their first choice
You will get 3 options:
1. Hit Accept
Select this if you are satisfied with the current institute and program, and do not want upgrades in Round-3.
You can download and print the Provisional Admission Letter and submit it at the time of reporting.
[Admission reporting window dates for 2026 will be released in the official brochure]
2. Hit Accept & Upgrade
Choose this if you wish to keep your current allotment, but still want consideration for higher-priority choices in Round-3.
If you get a higher preference in Round-3, the Round-2 seat is automatically cancelled.
If an upgrade is not available, your Round-2 allotment remains.
3. Hit Decline
If you decline the Round-2 allotment, your current seat will be cancelled, and you will not be eligible for Round-3.
You can still re-register for Round-4 & Spot Round by paying USD 300.
[If Round-2 acceptance deadline for 2026 is missed, DASA will presume rejection and cancel Round-3 eligibility, to be confirmed with upcoming brochure]
Round-3 seat allotment is conducted for all eligible DASA/CIWG applicants based on their JEE Main rank, choices filled, and seat availability. Candidates from the USA and Middle East must check the results directly on dasanit.org, as DASA does not send individual notifications.
Applicants must confirm their Round-3 seat within the given deadline, or the allotment is automatically cancelled. Those who do not confirm must re-register (with USD 300) to participate in Round-4 or the Spot Round.
[The exact Round-3 result date for 2026 will be confirmed in the official DASA 2026 brochure]
In Round-3, DASA categorizes applicants into two groups:
If you receive a seat in Round-3, you will get four possible actions:
1. Accept
Confirm the allotted seat, download the Provisional Admission Letter, and report to the institute within the deadline. This letter may be required for visa processing for students living in the USA or Middle East.
2. Round-4 (Without Choice Change)
Keep your current Round-3 seat but stay eligible for Round-4.
If a higher-preferred choice becomes available, it will automatically replace your Round-3 allotment.
3. Round-4 (With Choice Change)
If you want to modify your original choices, you can edit them and participate in Round-4.
However, your current Round-3 seat is cancelled immediately, and there is no guarantee of a better allotment based on your JEE Main rank.
4. Decline
If you do not wish to keep the Round-3 allotment, you may decline the seat.
In this case, Round-4 & Spot Round participation requires re-registration with a fee of USD 300.
Applicants that aren’t allotted a seat in Round 3 but would like to participate in Round 4
If you are not allotted any seat in Round-3 but still wish to continue, DASA gives you two choices for Round-4 participation:
1. Round-4 Without Choice Change (Not Allotted)
You can participate in Round-4 using the same choices you submitted earlier during the application. This option keeps your original institute/branch preferences as they are.
2. Round-4 With Choice Change (Not Allotted)
If you want to modify your existing preferences before Round-4, DASA allows you to update your list of institutes/branches and then participate in the allotment again.
This can help NRI students living in the USA and the Middle East (UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia) reposition their choices based on rank trends.
The Round-3 to Round-4 confirmation deadline for the 2026 cycle will be updated once the official brochure is released.
If an applicant does not select either option within the DASA portal by the published deadline, DASA will assume the student is not interested in Round-4.
Still, they can re-register for Round-4 and Spot Round later by paying the USD 300 fee.
Round-4 allotments are made strictly on inter-se merit, based on the applicant’s JEE Main rank and updated choice list. NRI students living in the USA and Middle East (UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia) who opt for Round-4 become eligible under any of the following conditions:
The exact Round-4 re-registration dates, June deadlines, and seat confirmation timelines for DASA 2026 will be released in the official brochure on dasanit.org.
Applicants must follow the published schedule carefully, as delayed confirmations or fee credits may disqualify them from Round-4 participation.
NRI students in the USA and Middle East must upload their valid JEE Main 2026 rank, complete any choice changes, and ensure fee payment during the Round-4 window mentioned in the official DASA brochure.
The earlier schedule (2nd–3rd week of July) must be re-verified for 2026 once official dates are released.
Fee payments can be made via SWIFT or international card, and must be credited to the DASA account before the deadline, late credits may cause rejection.
Past instructions requiring JEE score submission via NTA to MNNIT must be confirmed for 2026. Currently, applicants upload scorecards directly on the DASA portal. To avoid delays, initiate SWIFT transfers several days before the cutoff.
Applicants who are allotted a seat in Round 4 would get two options
1. Accept
Confirm the allotted institute/branch within the admission reporting window and download the Provisional Admission Letter (useful for visa processing).
Past reporting dates (e.g., July 21-26) must be verified from the 2026 brochure.
2. Decline
If you choose not to take the allotted seat, you may still re-register for the Spot Round by paying the applicable fee.
Earlier cut-offs (e.g., July 20 confirmation) must be re-checked for 2026.
Once you accept your allotted seat, a Provisional Admission Letter is issued through the DASA portal. This letter must be submitted during physical or online reporting at the allotted institute for final verification.
DASA sends approved letters to the respective institutes for admission processing.
The previously referenced reporting window (e.g., July 21–26) must be reconfirmed from the official 2026 brochure.
If a candidate fails to report within the official 2026 deadline, the allotted seat will be automatically cancelled, and they may need to participate in later rounds (if allowed) or reapply next cycle.
Internal Sliding indicates the vacant seats in all the programs in the particular college once the candidates report at their allotted institutes. DASA requests all the participating colleges to conduct the Internal Sliding on the last week of July 2022, on the basis of inter se merit. The participating colleges will report all the vacant seats remained once Internal Sliding is done.
Here, DASA again conducts one more round called Spot Round to fill all the vacant seats remained in all the participating colleges.

The Spot Round is conducted by DASA to fill all remaining vacant seats across participating institutes for NRI students, especially those from the USA and Middle East who could not secure a seat in earlier rounds. Eligible applicants from previous rounds, as well as new applicants who meet DASA/CIWG criteria, can participate.
Students must submit their valid JEE Main score through the official NTA system and complete choice filling on the DASA portal.
The exact submission deadline (previously “second week of June 2022”) must be verified from the official 2026 brochure.
Similarly, choice modification and fee timelines must be checked before applying, as DASA only considers applications where tuition fees are successfully credited to their account.
The older reference period (“second week to fourth week of July 2022”) should be updated once 2026 dates are released.
During Spot Round reporting, students must carry all original documents for verification.
If a seat is allotted and not accepted within the prescribed window, the candidate becomes ineligible for any refund, as per current DASA CIWG rules.
