Only the Indian candidates belong to the General category EWS (Economically Weaker Section),Persons with Disabilities (PwD) will be eligible for reservation in JEE Main. Special advantages in the application, seat allocation and other essential processes are granted to candidates in reservation categories.
How to Claim Reservation for JEE Main 2021?
How to claim for reservation? Many of the students don't know, we will walk you through it with all possibilities of reservation
- The mention of category and its details in the JEE Main 2021 Application Form is mandatory.
- Present at the time of JEE Main Counselling the appropriate and valid certificates for verification.
- If a candidate fails to provide the documentation needed-they will be considered in the unreserved category.
Reservation for Women Candidates
Under All India Level or Women Quota System, a female candidate may apply as most of the colleges reserve 5 percent seats for women candidates.
There are schools, for instance, that give girls relaxation in terms of the percentage of marks.
So, if the cut-off for a specific seat / course is around 98%, a girl will apply for the same seat at around 93%.The relief for PwD students is an extra 3 percent.
Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwD)
Persons with benchmark disabilities (PwD) means a individual with a specified disability of not less than forty percent (40 percent) where the specified disability has not been identified in measurable terms and includes a person with a disability where the specified disability has been defined in measurable terms as approved by the certifying authority.
"Specified disability" means conditions as defined in the 2016 schedule of the RPwD Act. –
(i) Blindness and low vision
(ii) Deaf and hard of hearing
(iii) Locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy
(iv) Autism, intellectual disability, specified learning disability and mental illness
(v) Multiple disabilities from amongst persons under clauses (i) to (iv)
(vi) Other ‘specified disabilities’ mentioned in the Schedule of the RPwD Act 2016.
JEE Main EWS Quota For General Category Students 2021
This move came after the 124th Amendment Bill in India's Constitution, passed in the Parliament's January session. Because per this, EWS candidates belonging to the general quota candidates are given 10 percent reservation in employment and education.
Who falls under the EWS category?
Persons who are not covered by the reservation system for SCs, STs, and OBCs and whose family has a gross annual income below Rs 8 lakh are only known as EWS for reservation benefit.
After production of an Income and Resource Certificate issued by a Competent Authority, the value of booking under EWS can be used.
Who can’t access the EWS quota?
Whatever the family income is, if the candidates fall under any of the above, they can not take advantage of the EWS quota benefits:
- Candidates whose families own 5 acres of agricultural land and above.
- Candidates owes a 1,000 sq residential flat. Ft. And above
- Candidates whose parents own a 100 sq residential property. Yards, and above in municipalities notified.
- Candidates whose parents own a 200 sq residential plot. Yards and beyond in areas other than Municipalities notified.
