JEE Mains 2025 Reservation of Seats will reserve some seats for the candidates of reserved categories from among the total annual intake of the colleges under the exam.
JEE Main Reservation Quota ensures that a certain share of seats in engineering and related programs under the Ministry / Central Government-funded institutions are reserved for candidates from socially, economically, or physically disadvantaged groups.
The JEE Main Reservation Criteria 2026 has been announced by the National Testing Agency. JEE Main 2026 reservation criteria include category-wise reservation for candidates and the conditions of eligibility to apply for reservation.
Only the Indian candidates belong to the OBC, SC, ST category EWS (Economically Weaker Section), Persons with Disabilities (PwD) will be eligible for reservation in JEE Main. Special advantages in the application, seat allocation, and other essential processes are granted to candidates in reservation categories.

The Board has mentioned that the candidates who don't belong to OBC – NCL will be considered as General candidates and should mention their category as General while filing the application form.

There will be seat reservations for all the applicants belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes (Non – Creamy Layer), and Persons with Disabilities as per the norms of Central Govt.
Though the exam authorities have NOT specified the exact percentage of reservation for JEE Main 2026 Reservation of Seats, reservations of seats for 2026 are mentioned below. Till the release of any new information, candidates can refer to it.
Reservation Categories & Percentages
As per recent notifications and norms, the reservation for all-India / central seats in JEE Main / JEE Main-based admissions is (or expected to be) as follows:

OBC-NCL: 27% of seats

SC: 15%

ST: 7.5%

EWS (Economically Weaker Section): 10%

PwD (Persons with Benchmark Disability): 5% horizontal reservation across all the above categories (OPEN, GEN-EWS, OBC, SC, ST)
NRI / PIO / OCI & DASA / CIWG Quota

NRI / OCI / PIO students do not fall under central reserved categories (OBC, SC, ST, EWS) in the JEE Main / central engineering admissions. They generally compete via open seats unless participating under special quota / scheme.

The DASA scheme (Direct Admission of Students Abroad) is the route by which foreign nationals, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs can get seats in many NITs / IIITs / Central Technical Institutes. Admission under DASA is based on JEE Main rank but does not come under the reservation quota meant for Indian reserved categories.

CIWG (Children of Indian Workers in Gulf) quota: Some institutions provide super-numerary seats under CIWG. For example, about 5% of supernumerary seats from the DASA quota are set aside for CIWG candidates.

The claim for JEE Main 2026 Reservation of Seats will be guided by some clauses and norms of HRD and CSAB which have to be satisfied by every candidate in order to get the benefit of reservation.
Conditions & Important Points

Candidates must produce valid category certificates (OBC-NCL, SC/ST, EWS, PwD) at the time of admission / counselling. If documents are found invalid or not submitted, the candidate loses reservation benefit and will be considered under General category rank.

OBC-NCL category candidates must satisfy the “non-creamy layer” norms as per the Government of India. If the certificate does not satisfy NCL criteria / date etc., reservation may be denied.

Persons with Disability (PwD) must have at least 40% impairment (benchmark disability) to claim reservation. Certifying medical authority must issue the certificate.
JEE Main 2026 Reservation of Seats remains the same every year till there are any major changes in govt. reservation policies. The candidates will be notified of any kind of change that occurs in the reservation policies this year.
