DASA (Direct Admission of Students Abroad) is the admission route used by eligible NRI, OCI/PIO and foreign-national candidates for participating NITs, IIEST Shibpur, IIITs, SPAs and other listed technical institutes. For DASA UG 2026, admission is based on the applicable JEE Main 2026 rank and DASA eligibility rules.
Important: Older schedules showing April/June registration, three DASA rounds, September internal sliding or NITK Surathkal as the 2026 coordinator are outdated. DASA 2026 was coordinated under CSAB 2026 by IIEST Shibpur.

DASA Registration Dates 2026
DASA UG 2026 registration did not open in April or June. The common DASA / CSAB Special registration window opened on 28 July 2026 at 10:00 AM IST and closed on 3 August 2026 at 10:00 AM IST.
During the registration window, DASA candidates had to complete the applicable steps, including:
- Fresh DASA / CSAB Special registration
- Payment of the applicable DASA Enrolment Fee
- DASA document upload
- Document verification
- Choice filling after successful verification
- Choice locking before the deadline
Students should not rely on older instructions about separately sending JEE Main scores to a fixed DASA coordinating NIT. The current cycle process should always be followed through the applicable counselling portal.

DASA Physical Reporting Dates 2026
The common 2026 schedule listed 13 August to 18 August 2026 as tentative dates for physical reporting by candidates who had confirmed their seats.
However, candidates were required to check the website of the allotted institute for the actual reporting date, commencement of classes, balance-fee payment and institute-specific admission instructions.
Who Conducted DASA 2026?
DASA 2026 was coordinated under CSAB 2026 by the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur.
The older statement naming NIT Karnataka, Surathkal as the DASA 2026 coordinating institute is incorrect for the 2026 cycle.
Is There a Separate DASA Exam?
No. There is no separate DASA UG entrance examination.
For DASA UG 2026, seat allocation is based on the applicable JEE Main 2026 rank, subject to DASA eligibility, document verification, category and choice filling.
Old references to SAT Subject Tests or a separate “DASA score” should not be used for current DASA UG admission guidance.
Check DASA Eligibility Criteria
DASA Eligibility Before Registration
Before planning around DASA dates, candidates should first confirm that they satisfy the applicable eligibility conditions.
- Nationality / NRI / OCI / PIO / Foreign National category
- Cycle-specific date-of-birth requirement
- Required qualifying-examination subjects
- Required aggregate marks / CGPA
- Applicable overseas-study / residential condition
- JEE Main paper and rank requirement
- CIWG parent-employment criteria, where applicable
Under the latest published framework for B.E. / B.Tech, candidates must satisfy the prescribed subject combination and the applicable 75% aggregate or 7.5 CGPA out of 10 requirement. Candidates should use the current DASA eligibility guide rather than older 60% / 6.5-CGPA information.
DASA / CIWG Documents to Prepare Before Registration
DASA candidates should prepare required documents before the registration window because document verification takes place before choice filling / allotment.
- Candidate passport
- Class 10 / secondary-school certificate
- Class 11 academic / study records
- Class 12 / qualifying-examination records
- Proof of overseas education where applicable
- JEE Main details
- OCI / PIO documents where applicable
- Percentage / CGPA conversion documentation where required
- Medical certificate and prescribed undertakings
CIWG candidates additionally need the prescribed qualifying-parent documents such as passport, Gulf visa, work permit and employer / company certificate.

DASA Participating Colleges
DASA is used for admission to participating institutes in the NIT+ system and other listed technical institutions, including NITs, IIEST Shibpur, participating IIITs, SPAs and other institutes included in the current DASA seat matrix.
Do not use the old statement that only 62 colleges participate. The participating-institute list and programme-wise seat matrix should be checked for the current cycle because institutes and programmes can change.

DASA Cutoff and Choice-Filling Planning
There is no single JEE Main rank that guarantees a DASA seat. Opening and closing ranks vary by institute, programme, category, round and seat availability.
Students should use previous cutoffs only as planning data and create a choice list containing ambitious, competitive and realistic options.

DASA Fees and Payment Timeline
DASA candidates must follow the applicable registration / enrolment-fee and tuition-payment rules for their category. CIWG, Non-CIWG, SAARC and other applicable tags can have different fee structures.
Because fee amounts and refund rules can change by cycle, students should check the current fee guide before making payment. Hostel, mess, institute deposits and other charges may also be separate.
