Important correction: It is better to say that 5% of total institute intake within the DASA supernumerary framework is reserved for CIWG. Saying only “5% of DASA seats are CIWG” is incorrect because CIWG represents one-third of the DASA seat pool.
Under the DASA UG 2026 rules, any CIWG seat that remains vacant is converted to a Non-CIWG DASA seat during Round II.
The older statement that vacant CIWG seats are converted only during a spot round should be removed. DASA UG 2026 and CSAB Special Rounds have two seat-allocation rounds, and the CIWG-to-Non-CIWG conversion is specifically provided for Round II.
Yes. An eligible NRI student with a DASA-CIWG tag can also choose to be considered for Non-CIWG DASA seats under the DASA Non-SAARC category, subject to the applicable registration and fee rules.

The DASA-CIWG category is available to eligible NRI candidates whose either or both parents satisfy the prescribed employment condition in one of the following Gulf countries:
The student must also satisfy the applicable DASA eligibility rules. Merely studying in a Gulf country does not automatically make a student eligible for CIWG.
