DASA CIWG Participating Colleges 2026
167
Quick Answer:
DASA UG 2026 gives eligible NRI, Foreign National and applicable OCI/PIO students access to a large group of participating NITs, IIEST, IIITs, SPAs, Other-GFTIs and other technical institutes. CIWG is a reserved category within DASA for eligible NRI students whose parent meets the prescribed Gulf employment condition. Admission is based on JEE Main 2026 rank, programme choices, seat availability and DASA eligibility.
The old information stating that only 62 colleges participate in DASA is outdated. The DASA UG 2026 information brochure lists 87 participating institutes: 30 NITs plus IIEST Shibpur, 18 IIITs and 38 Other-GFTIs / other technical institutes. The last group includes the three Schools of Planning and Architecture.
Important: The list of participating institutes and programme-wise seat matrix can change in future admission cycles. Students should use the latest DASA seat matrix before choice filling instead of relying on an old fixed college or seat count.

Current DASA CIWG Seat Structure
The old fixed statements such as “3931 total DASA seats” or “1310 CIWG seats” should not be used as current facts unless they are calculated from the latest seat matrix for that specific admission cycle.
Under the DASA 2026 framework:
- DASA seats are supernumerary.
- The DASA supernumerary allocation for a programme is limited to up to 15% of the programme-wise institute intake.
- 5% of the total institute intake within this DASA supernumerary framework is reserved for CIWG.
- In other words, one-third of DASA seats are reserved for CIWG.
- Vacant CIWG seats are converted to Non-CIWG seats during Round II under the 2026 rules.

Which Gulf Countries Are Eligible for CIWG?
The DASA 2026 CIWG framework includes the following Gulf countries:
- United Arab Emirates
- Bahrain
- Iraq
- Iran
- Kuwait
- Oman
- Qatar
- Saudi Arabia
CIWG eligibility is not based only on where the student studies. The candidate must satisfy DASA eligibility and either parent must meet the prescribed Gulf employment condition and provide the required supporting documents.
DASA CIWG Eligibility for College Admission
For B.E. / B.Tech admission through DASA 2026, candidates must have a valid JEE Main Paper 1 rank and satisfy the qualifying-examination rules.
- Mathematics and Physics are required.
- One accepted additional subject such as Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science or Biology is required under the applicable rule.
- The 2026 framework requires 75% aggregate or 7.5 CGPA out of 10 in the applicable five subjects.
- Indian Nationals and applicable OCI/PIO(I) candidates must satisfy the prescribed overseas-education requirement.
- CIWG candidates must also establish the qualifying parent's Gulf employment.
Important correction: The old 60% eligibility statement should be removed from the page.
Check DASA Eligibility Criteria
Is JEE Main Mandatory for DASA CIWG?
Yes. DASA UG admission is based on JEE Main rank under the current framework. Old references to SAT Subject Tests should be removed.
| Programme |
JEE Main Paper |
| B.E. / B.Tech |
Paper 1 |
| B.Arch |
Paper 2A |
| B.Plan |
Paper 2B |
The JEE Main rank required for admission is not one universal cutoff. It varies by institute, programme, DASA / CIWG category, round and seat availability.

Who Is Conducting DASA 2026?
The old statement naming Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad as the current DASA coordinator should be removed.
IIEST Shibpur is the coordinating institute for DASA 2026. DASA UG 2026 and CSAB Special Rounds are being conducted under one umbrella through the CSAB platform after JoSAA.
DASA and CSAB Special 2026 have two seat-allocation rounds.
How to Choose the Best DASA CIWG College
The “best” DASA college is different for every student. Do not select a college only by name or by one old cutoff table.

Recommended DASA CIWG Choice-Filling Strategy
A balanced DASA choice list should normally contain a mix of ambitious, competitive and safer options.
- Ambitious: Highly preferred institutes and branches where previous closing ranks were stronger than your current rank.
- Competitive: Options where your rank is near previous opening and closing rank ranges.
- Safer: Institutes and branches where previous closing ranks provide a wider margin.
CIWG-eligible NRI candidates can also consider Non-CIWG DASA seats under the applicable rules, which can increase the number of choices available.
