1. How should I pay when I register?
Ans. Payment must be made in U.S. dollars and in the form of a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express) or PayPal. Students testing internationally may also use a debit/credit card supported in their region. Checks and money orders are no longer accepted for online SAT registration - please verify if still available by mail in 2026. Insufficient payment will cause your scores to be delayed.
2. How can I guarantee that I'll get my first choice of a test center when I register?
Ans. Test center assignment is done on a "first come, first served" basis. Although you can't be guaranteed your first choice, registering early gives you the best chance. Remember you can register in advance for any test date during the year
3. Do I have to complete the SAT Questionnaire each time I register?
Ans. Once you complete your SAT profile, you don’t need to fill it out again unless you update information. Your new answers will completely replace old ones.
4. Can parents or guardians register online on behalf of a child or children?
Ans. Each student must create a separate College Board account to register for the SAT. Parents and guardians cannot use their own accounts to register a child
5. What if something goes wrong in the middle of registering online?
Ans. If you experience technical problems while completing online registration, most of your information will be saved. To finish, log back into “My SAT” and click “Finish Registering” next to your chosen test date
6. Can I cancel my online registration?
Ans. Registrations can be canceled before the test date, but only partial refunds are issued. If you cancel before the change deadline, you may receive a $10 refund. After the deadline, no refunds are given. Old rule about “no cancellation once ticket issued” is outdated.
7. Why do I need a collegeboard.com password to register online?
Ans. You can use many collegeboard.com features without signing in, but you need to be able to sign in to register for the SAT online. That way, you can:
1. Start registration and return to it later.
2. Check your test center assignment.
3. Make corrections to your Admission Ticket.
4. Print an Admission Ticket to use on test day.
5. View your SAT scores online.
8. Why don’t my username and/or password work when I try to log in?
Ans. Your username and password are case sensitive. Use “Forgot Username” or “Forgot Password” on the College Board login page to reset them
9. Are there browser requirements to support online registration?
Ans. SAT registration works best on updated versions of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari, or Firefox. Ensure cookies and JavaScript are enabled. References to Netscape, Internet Explorer, and AOL are obsolete
10. Is my personal information safe online?
Ans. Yes. All personal information is securely encrypted and protected under College Board’s privacy and security policies.
11. What if I can't connect to online SAT registration?
Ans. During maintenance or heavy traffic (e.g., near deadlines), the system may be slow. Try again during off-peak hours such as early morning or weekends to complete registration smoothly.
