DIGITAL SAT ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

SAT is typically taken by high school juniors and seniors. Indian students who have completed their 12 years of school education successfully from any recognized Indian board or university can take SAT for admission in the different streams available in various international colleges.

Since you can take the test again to improve the scores, even 10th-grade students can take the test. There is no criterion of minimum marks etc. for appearing in the Digital SAT, but several colleges need a good SAT score along with a good academic record.

SAT Eligibility Criteria do not involve any fixed measures to be fulfilled, however, a few parameters can be considered important factors:

SAT Age Requirements:

The SAT is recommended for candidates aged 17 to 19. Those under 13 can register only by phone or mail due to online privacy regulations. Phone registrants qualify for a cost waiver. Students below ninth grade don’t need to submit a photo with registration but must present a valid photo ID at the exam center. Test-takers aged 21 and above must bring an official government-issued photo ID to the test center.

SAT Educational Eligibility:

The SAT, administered by the College Board, imposes no specific educational prerequisites. High school students aiming for admission to U.S., Canadian, and international institutions can take this globally recognized test. The SAT evaluates knowledge, aptitude, and college readiness. While no formal educational requirement exists, proficiency in English is important, as the test is conducted in English.

SAT Eligibility for Students with Disabilities:

Students with disabilities are eligible to take the SAT with the same accommodations offered in the traditional format. Approval for accommodations must be obtained in advance through the College Board’s Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD). Once approved, students can use the specified accommodations during the exam.

Facilities for Disabled Students:

College Board offers a wide range of accommodations for documented disabilities. The process for requesting accommodations remains unchanged. Options include:

• Extended time (time and a half, double time, more than double time)
   
• Extra/extended breaks
   
• Text-to-speech
   
• Braille with raised line drawings

• Writer/scribe for recording responses
   
• Small-group setting
   
• Wheelchair accessibility

• Multiple Attempts: You can take the SAT multiple times. Most universities accept your best scores, but some may require all scores.

Digital SAT Format  

The Digital SAT is divided into two sections: Reading & Writing, and Math. It is adaptive, shorter, and more efficient than the paper-based SAT.

Total Test Time: 2 hours 14 minutes
 

• Break: 10 minutes between Reading & Writing and Math
   
• Question Types: Multiple-choice and numerical entry (grid-in)
   

Adaptive Format: Difficulty of the second module depends on performance in the first module.

What is Digital SAT Cancellation Fees? 

Students can cancel via their College Board account. Refunds are partial, as the cancellation fee is deducted from the paid registration amount.

How to register for the Digital SAT?

Registrations will be available for the Spring 2026 exam (March-May 2026) very soon. In order to be notified of the registration details, follow the below steps:

1. Create a College Board account.
    
2. Fill in personal details and select your test center & date.
    
3. Upload a passport-style photo.
    
4. Pay the registration fee online.

How is Digital SAT Scored?

• Total score ranges from 400–1600.
