NTSE STAGE – 1 (State Level, National Talent Search Exam)
NTSE Stage -1
NTSE consists of 2 Stages (Stage -1 and Stage – 2). To receive the award of scholarship scheme, students need to qualify for both the Stages.

The first stage of NTSE examination is conduct at Sate level, each state or Union Territory conducts its own exam.

The notification for examination is released in the Month of July-August in form of advertisement.

Every year the examination is generally conducted in almost all states and Union territory on second Sunday of November except for Nagaland, Adaman and Nicobar; there it is conducted on second Saturday of November every year until and unless some special circumstances occur.

To appear for stage-1 exam, only the Indian students of class X of a recongnised school can apply in month of July – September, by downloading or collecting the application form, from the Liaison Officer of respective State or Union Territory. Liaison Officers Addresses are available on the NCERT site i.e. (www.ncert.nic.in).

The applicant should be less than 18 years as on 1st July2017 and should not be employed

The candidate has to fill the form and get it signed by the Principal of their school.

Candidate should submit only once, for both the level a common application form and fees to the liaison officer of State/Union territory.

If the candidates have any query related to stage 1 exams, they can only approach the Liaison officers of their State or Union Territory.

The result of Stage -1 exam is generally declared in the month of January/February by the State or Union Territory.

The Indian nationality Students, who are studying abroad are exempt from Stage-1 exam.
Exam Pattern
Two-type tests are conducted. The students qualifying for both the test are eligible for stage -2 exam conducted by NCERT.
Type-1: Mental Ability Test (MAT), and
Type-2: Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) (with questions on History, Civics, Geography, Economics, Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.)
