Students applying under the NRI category must be Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), or foreign nationals. Proof of NRI or OCI status is mandatory at the time of counselling and admission.
All NRI students must have qualified the NEET-UG examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in the same academic year. NEET qualification is compulsory for both NRI Quota and All-India Quota (AIQ) admissions.
The candidate must be at least 17 years old as of 31st December of the year of admission to be eligible for MBBS admission in any Indian medical college.
NRI students must have successfully completed Class 12 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects from a recognized board.
A minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) is required for General and EWS category students. Relaxation in marks is applicable for SC/ST/OBC candidates as per NEET-UG regulations.
Candidates can apply as NRIs or through NRI Sponsorship in NEET, where they may be sponsored by a first-degree relative such as a parent, sibling, grandparent, uncle, or aunt. Valid documents proving both the relationship and the NRI status of the sponsor are required during counselling.
Some state government medical colleges reserve NRI seats within their 85% state quota. Eligible NRIs or those sponsored by first-degree relatives can apply with valid proof. Counselling is held by state authorities, and fees range from ₹20–60 lakhs (US $25,000–75,000) per year.
NRI and OCI candidates can apply through MCC (DGHS) under the 15% All-India Quota. These are open merit-based seats with no separate NRI quota or higher fee, and the admission process and fee structure are the same as for Indian students.

Collect and prepare all required NRI-related documents, including your passport, visa/OCI card, NRI certificate, sponsorship letter, and proof of relationship (if applying under sponsorship).
Upload scanned copies of all necessary certificates during online registration. Originals will be verified later at the time of admission in the allotted college.
Select your preferred government medical colleges under either AIQ or NRI quota. Review and lock your choices before the counselling deadline to confirm your options.
Seats are allotted based on NEET All India Rank (AIQ) or the state-level merit list (for NRI quota). The allotment result is published online on the respective counselling portal.
After the seat allotment, download your provisional allotment letter from the official counselling portal. This document is required for admission reporting.
Visit the allotted medical college in person with all original documents and the allotment letter. Pay the required tuition fees (in INR or USD as per the college policy).
After document verification and fee payment, the college will issue an Admission Confirmation Letter and a Student ID, officially confirming your MBBS admission.
