Marks Distribution In JEE Mains Syllabus for Paper 1 & 2
Marks Distribution In JEE Main Syllabus for Paper 1 & 2
JEE consists of two papers, both allowing them to pursue the field of their interests. While Paper-1 helps the students to walk down the road to prestigious engineering institutions to pursue B.Tech/ B.E., Paper-2 is for those who aspire to take up the courses of B.Arch/ B.
Planning. Both the tests are mostly held in two shifts per day, giving an option to the students to appear for both the exams to widen the horizon of opportunities. Both the exams, even though, belonging to the same field of engineering, differ a lot in their constitution and pattern.

Students need to carefully review the designing of the papers in order to prepare for them in the best way possible.
Note: According to the latest update from DASA, from session 2021-22 onwards, JEE Main Rank is mandatory for NRI/ PIO/ OCI/ FN Students to be eligible for DASA & CIWG Schemes. Hence, 2020-21 will be the last year when SAT 2 scores will be considered for DASA/CIWG Scheme.
JEE Main Paper-1
Following a computer-based test mode, students aspiring for courses of B.Tech and B.E. have to appear for this 3-hour test as a pre-requisite.
The test contains 90 questions with 30 questions pertaining to physics, chemistry and Mathematics each.
Since the questions are objective type, there is one correct option in each question. For every correct answer, the students are awarded with 4 marks while every wrong answer costs them 1 mark. With a totality of 360 marks, each subject experiences equal mark distribution.

JEE Main Paper-2
This test has a different pattern considering the courses it offers after its clearance. Those aspiring for B.Arch or B.Planning appear for this paper. While Mathematics and Aptitude tests are computer-based, drawing test has to be conducted in the pen-and-paper mode.
The main subjects of the test being Mathematical, General Aptitude, and Drawing skills, there are a total of 83 questions.

Distribution of Marks in JEE Main Paper 2
Mathematics covers 30 questions while Aptitude and Drawing cover 50 and 3 questions, respectively.
JEE Paper 2 is of 390 marks in total with 70 marks devoted to the Drawing section.
Mathematics and Aptitude tests involve objective questions. Every correct answer gives 4 marks to the student, and there exists negative marking for every wrong answer worth 1 mark.
Thus, there is a clear distribution of marks in these exams giving students a vivid idea as to how the preparation is to be commenced. The students can make a clear strategy to focus on selected topics.
These patterns are prepared by NTA (National Testing Agency) and thus needs to be paid heed to. A clue regarding the marking scheme and duration can come in handy for all the JEE aspiring students.
