If an NRI (Non-Resident of India), fulfills all these criteria, he/she must check his performance in Class XII (or equivalent) board examination required for JEE registration.
For this, an NRI should satisfy at least one of the following two criteria:
- An aspirant must have got at least 75% aggregate marks in Class XII (or equivalent) OR
- Aspirants must come in the top 20% of successful candidates in their respective Class XII (or equivalent).
Moreover, the marks scored in the following 5 subjects will be supposed to add while calculating the aggregate marks for checking the top 20 percentile criterion.
- Chemistry
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Language (In a case, an NRI took more than one language, then the language with the higher marks will be counted)
- The highest marks of another subject apart above mentioned
Moreover, if board awards only grades, then the candidate is supposed to get a certificate from the Board specifying the equivalent marks and submit the same. In any circumstance such a certificate is not issued by the board then the final decision will be taken by the Joint Implementation Committee.
If a Board does not declare the individual subjects' result but provides only the aggregate marks, in such a case, these marks will be considered as such.
Furthermore, if an NRI has passed his/her Class XII (or equivalent) in 2024 and wants to reappear in 2025 to get good marks, in this situation, the higher marks obtained in 2024 or 2025 will be considered.
