Strategy to Secure a JIPMER Seat via NEET
To study the complete syllabus for securing an MBBS seat at JIPMER, you must focus on the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) UG exam. Since 2020, admissions to all AIIMS and JIPMER campuses are based on the rank achieved in the NEET-UG exam. The standalone JIPMER Entrance Exam has been discontinued. Therefore, your entire preparation should be NEET-centric.
NEET Exam Pattern (for JIPMER Admission)
Understanding the NEET exam pattern is the first step. The NTA (National Testing Agency) conducts the exam in an offline, pen-and-paper format.
- Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany & Zoology).
- Total Questions: 200 multiple-choice questions, out of which you have to attempt 180.
- Section-wise Breakdown:
- Each subject is divided into two sections: Section A (35 questions, all compulsory) and Section B (15 questions, attempt any 10).
- Marking Scheme:
- +4 for each correct answer.
- -1 for each incorrect answer.
- 0 for unattempted questions.
- Total Marks: 720
- Exam Duration: 3 hours and 20 minutes.
Practice Past Year Papers to Perform Well
To perform well in the exam, you have to practice NEET past year papers, not JIPMER papers. Analyzing NEET question papers from previous years will give you deep insights into the exam's difficulty level, question patterns, and high-weightage topics. This practice is essential to build speed and accuracy, which are critical for achieving the high rank required for JIPMER admission.
