JIPMER Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility norms for the MBBS course at JIPMER, based on the regulations set by the National Medical Commission (NMC), are mentioned below:
- Nationality: Candidates must be Indian Nationals. Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), and Non-Resident Indians (NRI) are also eligible to apply.
- Age Limit: Candidates must have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete that age on or before December 31st of the year of their admission. There is no upper age limit.
- Academic Qualification: Students must have passed or be appearing in the 10+2 or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects.
- Minimum Marks: The candidate must pass Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English individually and secure a minimum of 50% marks taken together in PCB for the General category, 45% for General-PwD candidates, and 40% for candidates belonging to reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC-NCL).
Seat Reservation
Admission to JIPMER is no longer through a separate entrance exam. It is based on the All India Rank in the NEET (UG) exam, followed by counselling conducted by the MCC. The seat reservation for different categories is as per the latest government norms and is subject to change annually.
