CIWG is the acronym for Children of Indian Workers in Gulf. It is a special category under DASA scheme for eligible NRI students whose parent is working, or has worked in an eligible Gulf country.
Eligible NRI students from Gulf countries can get admission in NITs, IIITs, SPAs, IIEST Shibpur, Other-GFTIs and other competing technical institutes in India through DASA CIWG 2026-27.
CIWG is important for NRI families as it offers two major benefits: reserved seats in DASA and a lower tuition fee than the regular DASA Non-SAARC category.
CIWG quota is a reserved category seat under DASA for eligible NRI students whose parent is working, or has worked, in a Gulf country. Admission to CIWG is based on JEE Main 2026 rank, DASA eligibility, CIWG document verification, choice filling and seat availability.

CIWG is not a separate entrance test. This is a category in the DASA admission process.
Students applying under CIWG must first meet the normal DASA eligibility rules. They then need to prove that either parent is working or has worked in an eligible Gulf country.
Final admission is subject to:

DASA offers supernumerary seats to eligible overseas candidates in the participating institutes. As per the DASA quota, 5% of the seats are reserved for the Offspring of Indian Workers in Gulf.
In brief, the DASA seats are reserved 1/3 for CIWG candidates.

For many NRI families in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq and Iran, the lower CIWG fee is one of the biggest advantages.
A student can apply under CIWG only if the student satisfies DASA eligibility and CIWG document conditions.

Students should not assume CIWG eligibility only because they live in the Gulf. The parent’s work proof is the key requirement.
DASA is open for eligible NRI, OCI, PIO and Foreign National students. But CIWG is only linked with eligible NRI candidates who have a parent with a Gulf work connection.

Students are asked to choose the right category while registering as wrong category selection can impact fee payment, document verification and seat allotment.
Academic eligibility for CIWG candidates are same as other DASA UG candidates.
For B.Tech and B.E. programs, students should have studied the required subjects in Class 12 or equivalent examination.

JEE Main 2026 is a prerequisite for DASA CIWG admission.
Please do not use the old information about SAT Subject Test for DASA UG 2026-27 admission. Students aspiring for admission into DASA or CIWG have to qualify JEE Main.

Students should upload clear and readable documents. If documents are incomplete, unclear or mismatched, the verification officer may raise a query.
The parent’s Gulf work connection is the most important part of CIWG verification.

CIWG candidates pay a lower first-semester tuition fee compared to regular DASA Non-SAARC candidates.

The US$300 registration fee is non-refundable. Tuition fee refund depends on official DASA refund rules and the candidate’s counselling status.
Eligible CIWG candidates may choose to be considered for both CIWG and Non-CIWG DASA seats.
This option is useful for students who want to increase their chances by keeping both seat pools open.

Students should arrange choices in the exact order of preference. Choice order plays an important role in final allotment.
The DASA participating institute system has CIWG seats. Students should check the official seat matrix for exact number of institutes, branches and seats for 2026-27.
