The JEE Main exam, a highly competitive entrance test for engineering aspirants in India and for NRIs, is a crucial milestone for countless students aspiring to secure a seat in prestigious engineering colleges. Recently, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon release the official JEE Main application form. The NTA's release of the official application form is the first step in this challenging journey, and it signals the countdown to the examination day.
NRI students who wish to take admission in IITs, have to take the JEE Exam because the IITs do not accept a separate NRI quota under DASA / CIWG for IITs; NRI students are treated as general students in that case. However, many other institutes (NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, etc.) have DASA / CIWG quotas for overseas students. The seat matrix for DASA / CIWG is published annually. There is no fixed number like “3146 seats for NRIs” confirmed for 2026 yet; that number may differ by institute and year. For example, 2025 seat assignments are listed in the official seat matrix.
