ALLOCATION OF SEATS (Engineering NRI Quota)

Anna University provides admission to students belonging to international category under NRI, CIWGC and Foreign National categories. CIWGC is Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries. Anna University NRI / CIWGC Fee Structure 2026–27

The annual tuition fee for NRI and CIWGC category students depends on the programme and branch. Students should verify the final fee from Anna University before payment.

Hostel and mess fee: As per Anna University’s 2026–27 international students fee structure, twin-sharing AC hostel and mess charges are shown separately. Students should check the latest official fee circular before final payment.

ELIGIBILITY – GENERAL (B.E / B.Tech. / B.Plan. / B.Arch.)

• The candidate’s NRI status must be supported by the NRI status of the father, mother or legal guardian.
• A recent NRI status certificate issued by the Indian Embassy with official seal must be submitted.
• Affidavits for NRI status are not accepted.
• The NRI parent or legal guardian must submit an employment certificate.
• For self-employed parents, business details, annual income proof and income tax records for the last three years may be required.
• The registration fee is USD 250 plus 18% GST.
• The fee must be paid online by debit or credit card.
• Any transaction charges must be paid by the candidate.

ELIGIBILITY – ACADEMIC (B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Plan.)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

• Candidates must have passed one of the following qualifying examinations:
• Higher Secondary Certificate (XII Standard) or equivalent OR 8+4 type of Foreign Boards OR 9+3 type of Foreign Boards

The applicant must have successfully cleared all subjects and attained a minimum aggregate of 45% in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry collectively.

MODE OF SELECTION:

Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria will be summoned for counseling according to their merit. The merit list is formulated based on the marks obtained in the designated subjects, scaled to 200 (Mathematics: 100, Physics + Chemistry: 100), during the qualifying examination (XII std. or equivalent).

ELIGIBILITY – ACADEMIC (B.Arch.)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

Candidates must have passed one of the following qualifying examinations:

• HSC (Academic) / Equivalent: Individuals who have successfully completed the 10+2 or an equivalent examination, having studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM).
• Diploma: Those who have completed a 10+3 years Diploma (in any stream) recognized by Central / State Governments, with Mathematics as a compulsory subject.
• International Baccalaureate Diploma: Students who have obtained the International Baccalaureate Diploma after 10 years of schooling, with Mathematics being a mandatory subject.

MODE OF SELECTION:

• Admission to the architecture course requires candidates to have successfully completed the 10+2 scheme of examination, securing a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Alternatively, candidates who have passed the 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as a compulsory subject and attained at least 50% marks in aggregate are also eligible for admission.
• Applicants are required to secure a minimum aggregate of 50% in all subjects combined, encompassing H.Sc. (academic), 10+3 years Diploma, or International Baccalaureate Diploma.
• To gain eligibility, the candidate must successfully pass an architecture aptitude test administered by the Council of Architecture (NATA).

• Class 12 or equivalent mark sheet
• Passport of candidate and parent / guardian, where applicable

COUNSELING PROCEDURE

• Following the publication of the Rank list, candidates will be invited to engage in Online Counselling (Choice filling) based on their Merit order. The Counseling Web Portal, allowing the selection of the Institution/Branch of study, will be activated subsequent to the release of the Merit List.
• Allocation under the NRI category does not adhere to communal reservation.
• During the Online Counseling process, candidates are required to make an initial deposit of $1,000 through online mode, along with a non-refundable Counseling fee of $50 (+18% GST) for participation. The initial deposit will be credited towards the tuition fee.
• After the provisional seat allotment is completed, no changes to the Branch or Institution will be allowed.

Q1. What is the Eligibility Criteria for Marine Worker?

Answer: If marine worker have Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC) they can apply for the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) category.

Q2. When is the counseling usually scheduled?

Answer: The tentative date of counseling is in the month of June every year.

Q3. Is there any entrance examination for UG Programmes?

Answer: No, Undergraduate Admissions is based on merit as per the grades/ marks obtained in physics, chemistry and mathematics in the 10+2 or equivalent examination

Q4. I have not studied Physics in +2, Can I be admitted to your program?

Answer: No, Qualified applicants must have an Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in +2 level or equivalent.

Q5. I have taken biology instead of chemistry, in my XII Boards. I have got more than 80% in Maths, and my overall percentage is also more than 80%. Am I eligible?

Answer: Not eligible, For Anna University Engineering admission candidates must have studied Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. The candidate should have passed in all the subjects and scored a minimum average of 50 percentage in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together.

Q6. I have done my XII from IB board. Am I eligible to apply?

Answer: Yes, IB Board is considered equivalent to CBSE. However, before you are granted admission, you will have to show that you satisfy the eligibility criteria. If your Board does not give marks in percentages, you can get the percent conversion from the Principal of the school.

Q7. If any change in my marks after re-totaling, will it effect in my rank?

Answer: Yes, If the ranking of candidate is changed due to re-totaling/revaluation of mark, he/she can attend counseling as per the new mark and rank
