The DASA 2026 Application Process is the official admission process for Foreign Nationals, NRIs, OCI/PIO students and CIWG candidates to get a seat in top engineering institutes of India like NITs, IIITs and SPAs. It is a special pathway for students studying abroad where admission is based on JEE Main 2026 All India Rank and not JoSAA general counselling.
Eligible candidates can apply online through DASA 2026 at csab.nic.in for B.Tech, B.Arch and Planning courses where they can register, upload documents, pay fees and participate in multiple rounds of counselling. The Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) 2026 scheme is a scheme of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It enables Foreign Nationals, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs and CIWG students to take admission in NITs, IIITs, SPAs and other centrally funded technical institutions in India.
Admission is on the basis of JEE Main 2026 rank and the students do not take part in JoSAA general counselling.

The DASA (Direct Admission of Students Abroad) 2026 scheme is a centralised admission process for NITs, IIITs, SPAs and other premier technical institutes of India. It is especially designed for International students and Indian origin candidates living abroad, who want to pursue B.Tech admission in India through NITs and other top colleges.

Go to csab.nic.in and login with your JEE Main 2026 Application Number and Password – no need to register again. Enter your details, select your Nationality Category (NRI / OCI / PIO / Foreign National / CIWG) and confirm contact details. Your name should be same in your passport, Grade XII certificate and JEE Main scorecard, as any difference in name will lead to disqualification.

If you choose Option A or B, you must upload the final marksheet before the September 30, 2026 deadline or admission will be cancelled.

⚡ Candidates for CIWG pay the much lower domestic tuition rate (~ ₹62,500 per semester). That is the greatest financial benefit to CIWG status.
All documents should be in English or Hindi (or authenticated translation) and should be clear, valid and legible. Submit before the deadline. If documents are missing, a query will be sent for your application.

DASA-2027 will be coordinated by one of the NITs (as officially stated on the DASA portal). The conducting NIT for 2027 is yet to be confirmed, and the official DASA Brochure 2027 will be released shortly after the announcement. Admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate programs under the DASA scheme for 2027 will be based on JEE Main Score 2027, including for NRI students living in the USA and Middle East applying under CIWG/DASA quota.

Q1. When will the DASA 2026-27 registration process begin?
DASA UG 2026-27 registration is expected to start in June 2026 after JEE Main results. NRI students must create an online account, submit documents, upload their JEE Main rank card, fill choices, and complete fee payment within the official deadline.
Q2. How do I create an account for DASA registration?
Visit the DASA portal, enter a valid email, verify the link sent, and set a secure password. Then log in using your Applicant ID, fill personal and academic details, upload documents, and proceed with fee payment to complete basic registration.
Q3. Which documents must be uploaded during DASA registration?
Students must upload their passport, date-of-birth proof, Class 10–12 transcripts, JEE Main 2026 scorecard, proof of studying Class 11–12 abroad, and fee payment receipt. CIWG students must also submit Gulf employment proof for a parent, including visa or work permit.
Q4. Is a JEE Main score mandatory to register for DASA 2026?
Yes. All DASA and CIWG candidates must upload their valid JEE Main 2026 All India Rank. There is no separate DASA exam or SAT requirement. Without JEE Main AIR, the application will not be accepted for seat allocation rounds.
Q5. Can I apply for DASA 2026 if my Class 12 results are not out yet?
Yes. Students appearing in Class 12 in 2026 may register by submitting an Undertaking stating that final marks will be uploaded once declared. Admission remains provisional until verification of Class 12 documents is completed through the DASA portal.
Q6. How do NRI students from the USA and Gulf choose colleges during registration?
Students can select unlimited programs and institutes from NITs, IIITs, SPAs, and CFTIs. Choice order matters during allotment. Higher JEE Main rank and wisely structured preferences improve chances of securing top branches like CSE, ECE, and IT.
Q7. How is the DASA 2026 registration fee paid by international applicants?
Fees can be paid online via international debit/credit cards or through SWIFT transfer from banks in the USA, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, or Saudi Arabia. After payment, students must upload the fee receipt on the DASA portal for verification.
Q8. What happens if personal or passport details are incorrect during registration?
Incorrect passport number, name spelling, or date of birth can lead to rejection. All details must exactly match the JEE Main application, school records, and passport. Students should review the form carefully before final submission and fee payment.
Q9. Can USA-based students register under CIWG during the DASA process?
No. CIWG applies only if a parent works in eligible Gulf countries (UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia). Students living or studying in the USA can apply only under DASA. They must compete through JEE Main rank with all other NRI applicants.
Q10. Can students update choice preferences after initial registration?
Yes. Choice refilling and modification is usually allowed after Round-1 seat allotment, during new registration week in late August. Students may reorder choices or add new institutes based on their JEE Main rank and Round-1 results.
