Quick Answer: JEE Main 2027 has nine overseas examination cities across seven countries. Washington, D.C. (USA), Singapore and four other overseas locations from 2026 are no longer listed. Eligible NRI, OCI/PIO and foreign-national students can complete the application from abroad and choose from the examination cities offered by NTA. The allotted city is shown on the city-intimation slip, while the exact test-centre address appears on the admit card.
For students studying in the USA, there is no JEE Main 2027 exam city listed within the United States. Washington, D.C. (ZZ15) was available in 2026 but has been removed for 2027. USA-based students should check the cities actually offered in their application and the rules for choosing an examination city in India.
This guide covers the nine overseas examination cities in the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and Nepal, along with registration, documents, exam-day planning, DASA and JEE preparation from abroad.

JEE Main 2027 update for NRI families (October 27, 2026)
The revised NTA examination-city list has 9 cities outside India, down from 15 in 2026. Washington, D.C., Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Lagos, West Java and Munich have been removed. Candidates whose present or permanent address is outside India must select at least one examination city in India among the preferences offered under the 2027 rules.
How to Apply for JEE Main From USA
The table below lists all nine overseas JEE Main 2027 examination cities in seven countries. Washington, D.C., and Singapore are not available on the 2027 list. Students should choose only from the city options displayed in their application.
| Country | City | JEE Main 2027 Planning |
|---|---|---|
| UAE | Dubai | International JEE Main exam-city option for UAE students. |
| UAE | Sharjah | Additional UAE examination-city option. |

Important: The exam city is selected during application, but the exact test-centre address is confirmed later through the candidate’s official exam-city/admit-card information.
JEE Main exam centres outside India are international testing locations that allow eligible candidates living abroad to appear for JEE Main without travelling to India only for the examination.
This is useful for NRI students studying in the USA and other countries who want to use their JEE Main performance for engineering admission in India.

For NRI students studying in the United States, Washington, D.C. is not an examination-city option for JEE Main 2027. It appeared in the 2026 list under city code ZZ15 but has been removed from the 2027 list. There is no listed examination city within the USA for this cycle.
USA-based students can still apply for JEE Main 2027 online. The examination-city options offered will depend on NTA’s application rules and the candidate’s present and permanent addresses. Candidates with a present or permanent address outside India must select at least one examination city in India. The exact examination venue and reporting details are confirmed on the admit card.

Documents required on exam day are different from the documents used during registration. Students should follow the instructions issued for JEE Main 2027 and carry the documents specified for their examination session.
| Document | Purpose |
|---|---|
| JEE Main Admit Card | Primary exam-entry document. |
| Passport / Applicable Photo ID | Identity verification for overseas candidates as applicable. |

| Applicable Certificate | Carry only where required under the candidate’s instructions. |
USA students should keep their passport and candidate documents organised before travelling to the exam venue.

Any change to an exam-city preference depends on what edits are permitted during the JEE Main 2027 application or correction process.
Students should therefore choose their preferred overseas exam city carefully during registration rather than assuming that a later change will always be possible.
There is no USA examination-city option for 2027. The nine overseas cities are in seven countries in the Gulf region and Nepal, as listed below.
| Country | City / Cities Covered |
|---|---|
| UAE | Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi |

| Oman | Muscat |
| Saudi Arabia | Riyadh |

Students in every country should select only from the options displayed in their JEE Main 2027 application. A chosen preference does not guarantee final allotment; NTA may assign a different examination city for administrative reasons.
JEE Main is important for eligible NRI, OCI/PIO and Foreign National students who plan to use the DASA route for participating NITs, IIITs and other institutes.
Appearing for JEE Main at an international centre does not by itself make a student DASA-eligible. DASA eligibility depends on the applicable citizenship/status, overseas-study, academic, JEE Main and document requirements.
