Many successful students in the US do hundreds of multiple-choice questions (MCQs), a lot of full-length practice tests, and a lot of free-response questions (FRQs), but there is no set number. A good goal is to have a few timed full exams, several topic-specific multiple-choice questions, and weekly FRQ drills.
3. Should I only use the new questions, or should I also use the practice questions from old AP exams?
You should use both of them. Previous AP Calculus BC questions are helpful because they show real question types and scoring patterns. You can, however, avoid surprises and learn about new variations by using practice questions that are more recent or different.
4. Are practice tests that cover a lot of different topics or just one topic better?
Both are important. You can get really good at each area (limits, series, integrals, etc.) by practicing with problems that are specific to that area. Mixed practice tests check how well you can switch between topics quickly and make you feel like you’re taking a real test. Use a mix.
