Selection Procedure
KVPY Selection Procedure
To qualify for KVPY exam, students need to fill the KVPY application form. After the screening of the application forms, students who fulfill the eligibility criteria for KVPY exam are called for the selection procedure. The selected students are issued an admit card to sit for KVPY exam. The Selection Procedure for KVPY exam takes place in two stages. One is online/offline aptitude test and the other is face to face round of final interview.
Online/Offline Aptitude Test
The aptitude test is conducted across the country at various centres in the month of November. The mode of test is in two languages i.e. Hindi and English and the applicants can opt for their preferred language. The aptitude test is same for all the categories i.e. for stream SA, SX and SB. The question paper is based on paper pencil format and consists of 80 multiple choice questions. The maximum marks for the aptitude test is 100 with no negative marking. The weightage of the aptitude test is 75%. This test is conducted to check the ability and understanding of the students instead of the factual knowledge. Those students who pass the aptitude test are then called off the final round.
Face to Face Interview
Face to face interview is the final round of the KVPY selection procedure. Based on the cut off, only those students who successfully qualify the aptitude test are invited for the final interview. The weightage of face to face interview is 25%.
After completion of both the rounds, the merit list of students is prepared, and the fellowship is awarded based on the student’s performance in both aptitude test and final interview.
