Eligibility Criteria
KVPY Exam
KVPY also known as Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana is a qualifying exam for students who want to pursue their career in research area in basic science. KVPY exam is conducted by Department of Science and Technology and is run by Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc).
The KVPY online/offline aptitude exam is conducted in November and the final interview is conducted in January and February.
KVPY Eligibility Criteria
To become eligible for KVPY exam, a student must be an Indian national. Also, the KVPY exam is for those students only who are studying from class 11th to first year of under graduate program in basic sciences. He must also fulfill below conditions to become eligible for KVPY as per the given three streams
Stream SA
1. Student should have scored an aggregate mark of more than 80% (70% for SC/ST/PWD) in science and mathematics in class Xth Board Exams.
2. Student must be studying in class XI with basic science as their subject.
3. Candidate will have to score a minimum aggregate mark of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) in class XII Board Exams in science subjects.
4. Selected student for fellowship will have to join an UG program in basic science (B.Sc./BS/B.Stat./B.Math /Int.M.Sc/MS).
5. For a period of one-year (interim), the candidates will be a part of National Science (Vijyoshi) Camp and there travel and other expenses fund will be taken care by KVPY only.
Stream SX
1. Student should have scored an aggregate mark of more than 80% (70% for SC/ST/PWD) in science and mathematics in class Xth Board Exams.
2. Student must be studying in class XII with basic science as their subject.
3. Candidate will have to score a minimum aggregate mark of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) in class XII Board Exams in science subjects.
4. Selected student for fellowship will have to join an UG program in basic science (B.Sc./BS/B.Stat./B.Math /Int.M.Sc/MS).
Stream SB
1. Student must be studying in first year of under graduate course with Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Biology as their subject.
2. Student should have scored an aggregate mark of more than 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) in science and mathematics in class XIIth Board Exams.
3. Candidate will have to score a minimum aggregate mark of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) in class XII Board Exams in science subjects.
Note: - Any student who intends to pursue or is pursuing the undergraduate program under Distance Learning Education Scheme or through Correspondence Course will not be eligible to apply for KVPY exam.
Eligibility for Renewal/Continuation of KVPY Fellowship
1. The fellow student will have to study basic science as their subject and will have to maintain an aggregate of 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) or equivalent.
2. If the fellow student fails to maintain the above aggregate mark, then he will be disqualified for the fellowship program.
3. If the fellow student achieves an aggregate mark of more than 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD), then the fellowship can be renewed from that year onwards.
