Qualification for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) is determined by certain percentile cutoffs, which change every year for various categories. The lowest percentile an applicant has to reach in order to be admitted is known as the qualifying percentile. Each year, the equivalent qualifying marks (actual scores) linked to these percentiles may vary depending on a number of variables, including applicant performance and exam difficulty.
Qualifying Percentiles:
General (UR)/EWS: 50th percentile
SC/ST/OBC: 40th percentile
UR/EWS-PwD: 45th percentile
SC/ST/OBC-PwD: 40th percentile
Qualifying Marks:
The actual scores corresponding to these percentiles fluctuate annually. For instance, in NEET 2024, the qualifying marks were:
General (UR)/EWS: 720-164
SC/ST/OBC: 163-129
UR/EWS-PwD: 163-146
SC/ST/OBC-PwD: 145-129
The lowest and greatest scores in each category that satisfied the qualifying % are shown by these ranges. It's crucial to remember that admission is not guaranteed by reaching the qualifying percentile because actual cutoffs might be much higher, particularly for government medical schools. For instance, candidates in the general category often need to score 650+ to be considered for a government MBBS seat.
