How many science subjects can you choose in IB?
There is a requirement to study three sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics) for studying engineering or medicine in India. But if any of the students don't have all three subjects then they have 2 options:
Option 1
For Entrance Exam JEE Main & NEET
For JEE Main / NEET entrance students must have Physics, Chemistry, and Math from an eligibility point of view in grades 11th and 12th. In case the IB student is not having any of the science subjects between Physics or Chemistry, then he/she can take an Additional Certificate course. This way they will be considered eligible for JEE Main.
In the same way, if any additional subject is missing for NEET entrance eligibility this can be met by again taking an Additional Certificate course
Option 2
For Entrance Exam JEE Main & NEET
The exam IB aspirant can apply for a non-regular diploma, of course, this will not have any impact on the IB score but this additional diploma will suffice the eligibility requirement of the Entrance Exam.
By opting for this students can replace Group 3 – Individual & science and in this place they can have an additional Non-Regular Diploma (With a missing subject). The student will have to get this done by sending a request through the IB school coordinator to the IB Cardiff office.
Such request should be made at least 18 months prior.
