Bangalore Medical College & Research Institute (BMCRI) currently offers 250 MBBS seats annually. These are approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and filled based on NEET-UG merit through both state and national counselling processes.
Out of the total 250 seats, 15% are reserved under the All India Quota.
These seats are open to students from any Indian state and are allotted through MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) based on NEET-UG ranks. The tuition fee for AIQ students is the same as for Karnataka State Quota students, since BMCRI is a government college.
The remaining 85% seats are allotted through Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA).
Only candidates who qualify NEET-UG and meet the Karnataka domicile criteria are eligible. These seats include reservations for General Merit, OBC, SC, ST, and EWS categories. Fees remain highly subsidized for all Indian students under this quota.
Starting academic year 2025–26, BMCRI has received 50 additional MBBS seats as part of Karnataka’s statewide expansion (total 450 new seats across government colleges).
These seats will follow the same admission process — divided between General and the new NRI quota.
A 15% NRI quota has been introduced only for newly sanctioned seats in government colleges like BMCRI.
Out of the 50 added seats, around 7–8 will be reserved for NRI/OCI/PIO candidates.
After the addition of 50 seats (including the NRI quota), the total annual MBBS intake at BMCRI will increase to approximately 300 seats, making it one of the largest government medical colleges in South India.
