AFMC(Armed Forces Medical College), a government medical college manage by the Indian armed forces. Located in the heart of Pune city in the state of Maharashtra. One of the oldest colleges in India established its undergraduate section in August 1962. Every year many students compete for admission in this college even the NRI students from outside India. Here in this blog, we will discuss NRI eligibility for AFMC and the admission procedure along with NRI seats and fees in AFMC.
NRI Eligibility For AFMC
To apply for MBBS at AFMC Pune, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Only Indian citizens are eligible.
NRI, OCI, and PIO candidates must first obtain Indian citizenship before applying.
2. NEET Qualification
Candidates must qualify NEET UG in the same academic year. AFMC shortlists students based on NEET scores for further screening.
3. Age Requirement
Applicants must be 17 years or older on 31st December of the admission year.
Upper age limit: 24 years as per AFMC rules.

Selected candidates must sign a compulsory service bond to serve as medical officers in the Armed Forces after completing MBBS.
The college had a standard intake of 130 students. But MCI had increased to 150 seats including SC/ST in 2018. Out of 150 seats, 5 are reserved for NRI students. NRI Fees in AMFC and cutoff details are mentioned in the table below.

Admission to AFMC is not like regular NEET counselling. It has its own screening stages after NEET.
Steps are given below:
Step 1 – NEET UG
Candidates must qualify NEET UG in the admission year. NEET scores form the basis of AFMC’s first shortlist.
Step 2 – MCC Registration
Students must register on the MCC (DGHS) portal and select AFMC, Pune. This is mandatory for consideration in AFMC’s shortlist.
Step 3 – AFMC Shortlisting
AFMC releases its own shortlist based on NEET cut-off marks. Only shortlisted candidates are called to Pune for screening tests.
Step 4 – TOELR Exam
TOELR is a 40-question CBT testing English, logic, and reasoning in 30 minutes. Each correct answer carries +2 marks and scores are normalized with NEET.
Step 5 – Psychological Assessment Test (PAT)
PAT evaluates temperament, behaviour, and suitability for a military medical career. It is qualifying in nature and part of the overall assessment.
Step 6 – AFMC Interview
A 50-mark interview tests communication, confidence, leadership traits, and reasoning skills. It is conducted by the AFMC selection board.
Step 7 – Medical Examination
A strict Armed Forces medical exam is conducted. Candidates must meet military physical and health standards to qualify.
Step 8 – Final Merit List
The final merit list is prepared using NEET marks, TOELR score (scaled to 50), interview score, PAT qualification, and medical fitness.
