NEET Important Dates And Deadlines For Admission 2026

The NEET-UG 2026 admission process begins in February with applications and ends in November when classes start. Keeping track of these key dates is essential to avoid missing any stage of the admission journey.

Notification Release (February 2026)

The journey starts with the official NEET 2026 notification published by NTA in February. This document includes the exam date, eligibility rules, fee details, and instructions for registration. Students must read it carefully to avoid mistakes later.

Application Form Submission (February to March 2026)

During this period, candidates must complete the online registration, upload documents, and pay the exam fee. Missing this window means waiting for next year.

Correction Window (Mid-March 2026)

NTA provides a short correction window in March. Students can fix errors in personal details, category, or documents. After this, no changes are accepted, so it’s a crucial step.

Exam City Intimation & Admit Card (April 2026)

The city slip helps students plan travel, while the admit card is the mandatory entry pass to the exam hall.

NEET-UG 2026 Exam (3 May 2026)

The exam will be held on Sunday, 3 May 2026. Candidates must carry their admit card, valid ID, and follow dress code & exam guidelines strictly.

Answer Key & OMR (Late May 2026)

NTA will release the provisional answer key and scanned OMR sheets. Students can check responses and estimate scores before results.

Result Declaration (Mid-June 2026)

The official NEET 2026 result is expected around 14 June 2026. Candidates can download their scorecard from the NTA portal and DigiLocker.

Cut-Off Release – After Result (Mid-June 2026)

Within 1-2 days of the result, NTA announces the category-wise cut-off marks. These define the minimum marks required to qualify NEET 2026 for UR, OBC, SC, ST, and PwD categories.

Counselling Rounds (July to November 2026)

After the NEET 2026 result and cut-off are declared, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and respective state authorities begin the admission process. Counselling usually happens in four stages:

Counselling Procedure (Step by Step)

1. Registration & Payment
   • Candidates must register online on the MCC (for AIQ/Deemed) or state counselling portal.
   • Pay the non-refundable registration fee and a refundable security deposit.
     
2. Choice Filling & Locking
   • Select preferred colleges and courses in order of priority.
   • Lock choices before the deadline (no changes after locking).
     
3. Seat Allotment
   • Based on NEET rank, category, preferences, and seat availability, MCC/State authority allots seats.
   • Results are published online after each round.
     
4. Reporting to Allotted College
   • Download the allotment letter.
   • Report to the allotted college with original documents and fee payment.
   • If not satisfied, you can opt for the next round (except in the final Stray Vacancy round).

Reporting & Academic Session – November 2026

Selected candidates must report to their allotted medical colleges between October – November 2026 with original documents and fees. The new MBBS academic session begins in November 2026.
