Hi, I’m TestprepKart.

Biology is one of the most important subjects to crack NEET, which is why it must be covered more thoroughly than Physics and Chemistry. Under the current NEET pattern, Biology accounts for 90 of the 180 questions and 360 of the total 720 marks. However, students often struggle to score high because they rely only on limited study materials or practice questions without first completing NCERT properly.
One of the most useful resources for NEET Biology practice is MTG Objective NCERT at Your Fingertips Biology. The latest 2026-27 edition is built around Class 11 and Class 12 NCERT and is marketed by MTG for NEET 2027 preparation. It includes NCERT-based topic-wise MCQs, NCERT Exemplar problems, exam-archive questions, model tests, explanations, Mind Maps, Daily Practice Papers and other practice features.
So, we have compiled a detailed evaluation of the MTG Biology Book for NEET, including the latest chapter structure, pros and cons, how to use it with NCERT and NEET PYQs, and a free evaluation PDF for students who want to understand the resource before using it.
Important: As of August 2026, the latest official NEET syllabus available is the NEET UG 2026 syllabus. MTG describes this 2026-27 edition as based on the latest NCERT pattern for NEET 2027; students should still check the official NEET 2027 bulletin when it is released.
MTG Objective NCERT at Your Fingertips Biology is one of India’s most widely used NEET Biology practice books, published by MTG Learning Media Pvt. Ltd. The current 2026-27 edition covers the revised Class 11 and Class 12 NCERT chapter structure and is designed for students preparing for NEET 2027.
Use the TestPrepKart evaluation resource to understand the book format, then compare it with your current NCERT, NEET Biology previous year papers and NEET Biology study materials.
The latest edition is not simply the old chapter list with a new cover. MTG has revised the book around the latest NCERT structure and added tools intended to make revision and question practice more organised.

Download NEET E-Book GuideThe biggest correction needed in older editions and older online reviews is the chapter count. The current MTG 2026-27 table of contents contains 19 Class 11 chapters and 13 Class 12 chapters, following the revised NCERT structure.
| Unit | Current Chapters | No. of Chapters |
|---|---|---|
| Unit I: Diversity in the Living World | The Living World; Biological Classification; Plant Kingdom; Animal Kingdom | 4 |

Older editions and older online articles may still show chapters such as Transport in Plants, Mineral Nutrition, Digestion and Absorption, Reproduction in Organisms, Strategies for Enhancement in Food Production and Environmental Issues as separate chapters. They do not appear as separate chapters in the current MTG 2026-27 table of contents.
No book should replace NCERT Biology. MTG Fingertips works best as a practice companion after a student has read the relevant NCERT chapter. The book is useful for converting NCERT reading into MCQ practice, but students should still solve real NEET Biology PYQs and take NEET mock tests.
The book becomes more useful when it is placed in the right order. A student who jumps straight to hundreds of MCQs without knowing NCERT often ends up repeating the same mistakes.
Check out a few of the app features below.
Students studying AP Biology, IB Biology, Honors Biology or a U.S. high-school science curriculum may already understand many biological concepts. The challenge is that NEET preparation requires students to become familiar with NCERT-specific terminology, examples, diagrams and line-based factual details. For that reason, MTG is most useful after the U.S. curriculum has been mapped against the latest NEET syllabus.
| Preparation Layer | What It Gives a U.S.-Based Student | How to Use It |
|---|---|---|
| AP / IB / Honors Biology | Concept understanding and scientific reasoning | Keep school learning as the conceptual base. |
| NCERT Biology XI & XII | NEET-specific facts, terms, examples and diagrams | Read line by line before question practice. |
| MTG Fingertips | NCERT-linked MCQ conversion and repetition | Solve topic-wise after each NCERT chapter. |
| NEET PYQs | Real exam language and past patterns | Solve after chapter practice and analyse mistakes. |
| Mock Tests | Speed, negative marking and full-paper stamina | Use regularly after substantial syllabus coverage. |
If you are studying in the United States and are unsure where your school curriculum differs from NEET, read our guide on whether American curriculum students can give NEET and the complete NEET guide for NRI students in the USA.
The case references below are taken from TestPrepKart’s supplied student records and show why strong U.S. science grades alone do not automatically translate into NEET Biology marks.
Karan had strong AP scores but initially approached NEET like a U.S. exam. Plant morphology, animal classification and NCERT-specific recall were major gaps.
Priya’s U.S. curriculum was mapped against NEET NCERT requirements so missing areas could be covered systematically alongside school work.
Rahul’s first preparation was uneven: he studied favourite topics and avoided weaker NCERT chapters. The gap-year plan forced full chapter coverage, timed testing and error review.
| Advantages | Limitations |
|---|---|
| Closely structured around Class 11 and 12 NCERT. | Should not replace reading the NCERT textbooks. |
| Large volume of topic-wise MCQ practice. | Can become repetitive if students solve questions without analysing mistakes. |
| Useful for NCERT facts, diagrams, statements and quick revision. | A very large book can be difficult to finish if preparation begins late. |
| Includes Exemplar, exam archive, model tests and explanations. | Students still need real NEET PYQs and timed full-length mocks. |
| Helpful for identifying weak NCERT lines after chapter study. | Not a substitute for teacher support when a concept itself is unclear. |
| Resource | Best For | When to Use | Priority |
|---|---|---|---|
| NCERT Biology XI & XII | Theory, diagrams, terminology and facts | First | ★★★★★ |
| MTG Fingertips Biology | NCERT-based MCQ practice | After each NCERT chapter | ★★★★☆ |
| NEET Biology PYQs | Actual exam language and past patterns | After chapter preparation | ★★★★★ |
| NEET Mock Tests | Timing, accuracy, negative marking and stamina | After substantial syllabus completion | ★★★★★ |
| NEET Biology Study Material | Extra notes, topic revision and practice resources | As needed | ★★★☆☆ |

A book can provide questions, but it cannot decide which chapter a student should revise next. TestPrepKart combines study material with live teaching, testing and performance review so students know what to do after they finish a chapter.
A trial session can help identify whether the problem is NCERT coverage, weak concepts, question practice, speed or consistency.
We have developed NEET courses that enhance rather than replace students’ independent study because we have a thorough understanding of the NEET examination and test methodology. Every fundamental class is taught in real time and with interaction. The course is not intended to be a recordings-only program, but recordings of finished live classes are offered for review and actual missed-session assistance.

MTG Fingertips Biology can strengthen your NCERT-based Biology practice, but NEET preparation also requires consistent work in Physics and Chemistry. If you are building a complete study plan, use the related TestPrepKart resources below for concept building, book selection, question practice, and revision.
Physics needs concept clarity as well as timed numerical practice. Start with NCERT-aligned material, strengthen difficult concepts, and then move toward previous-year questions and full-length practice.
Chemistry preparation works best when Physical, Organic, and Inorganic Chemistry are handled differently. Use NCERT carefully for theory and combine it with topic-wise questions and reliable practice books.
