Admission Procedure for Medical Colleges in India

Step 1: Appear for the NEET (UG) Examination 

• The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG), the sole entrance exam required for admission to MBBS, BDS, and other undergraduate medical programs throughout India, is the first and most important step.
• The National Testing Agency (NTA) administers NEET annually.

Step 5: Choice Filling and Locking

Next, candidates proceed to:

• After reviewing the selections, candidates must lock their choices before the deadline.
• Locked choices are final and used for the seat allotment process.

Step 6: Seat Allotment Based on NEET Rank

Once choices are locked:

• The counselling authority conducts the seat allotment round.
• Candidates are allotted seats in medical colleges based on:

  • Category (General/OBC/SC/ST)

Step 7: Document Verification and Reporting to College

After being allotted a seat:

• Candidates must report in person to the allotted college within the given time.

• The college will verify the documents and confirm the seat.

Step 8: Final Admission and Commencement of Classes

• Upon successful verification and payment of the admission fee, the candidate is officially admitted.
