JEE Main Exam Pattern

After the release of the official notification by NTA for the JEE Main Exam 2025, the exam dates are confirmed and the exam pattern is also confirmed. According to NTA’s notification regarding JEE Main 2025 Syllabus and Exam Pattern, it clearly stated that there will be no change in the JEE Exam Pattern but there are some changes in the JEE Main Syllabus for 2025.

JEE Main 2025 Exam Pattern includes all the details regarding how the main exams will be carried out. This includes mode of conduction, types of questions, marking scheme for JEE Main 2025 Examinations. 

So as we all know the Exam Dates for JEE Main 2025 Examination are out and the schedule for 2025 are as follows:

So let’s now discuss the JEE Main 2025 Exam Pattern for Paper 1 and Paper 2 respectively.

JEE Main 2025 Exam Pattern- Paper 1

• Courses Include: JEE Main 2025 Paper 1 will be conducted for those students who want to take admission into UG Engineering Courses (B.E./B.Tech).

• Subjects Included: There are three subjects included in Paper 1 – Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics & the syllabus will be based on/similar to that of Grade 11 & 12.

• Total Number of Questions : There are a total of 90 questions that are divided equally into the 3 subjects namely Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and the total marks are out of 300.

• Duration of Exam: The Total Duration is for 3 Hours but for candidates with disabilities, the duration is of 4 Hours.

• Question Paper Languages (Medium): For all the cities except Gujarat, Daman & Diu, and Nagar Haveli cities, the medium of JEE Main 2025 Examination will be English and Hindi and for these cities mentioned above, the medium of the Examination will be English, Hindi, and Gujarati. Students are requested to opt for this option at the time of filling the JEE Main 2025 Application form.

• JEE Main Marking Scheme: Each question (answered correctly) is awarded 4 marks & 1 mark is deducted for every wrong answer. So there is a 1/4th negative marking in the JEE Main 2025 Examination. Also, partial marks will be given on the questions that have multiple right answers (in the case when not all the answers to that particular question is correct).

JEE Main 2025 Exam Pattern- Paper 2

• Courses Include: JEE Main 2025 Paper 2 (B.Arch) will be conducted for those students who want to take admission into Architecture courses.

• Subjects Included: There are mainly three subjects included in Paper 2 – Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Drawing Test.

• Total Number of Questions: 77 questions For the section B.Arch (Mathematics 20 questions, Aptitude 50 and Drawing 2), 100 for the section B.Planning (Mathematics 20 questions, Aptitude 50 and Planning 25) and the total marks are out of 400.

• Duration of Exam: The Total Duration is for 3 Hours but for students with disabilities, the duration is of 4 Hours.
