Karnataka UG Engineering Entrance Tests - KCET & COMEDK:
KCET & COMEDK are two of the popular state-level entrance exams that are conducted for admissions in the Institutes of Karnataka, India. Both of these exams are held once a year.
Out of these, KCET is governed by the Karnataka Govt. & Indian students can get admissions in Govt. (funded & managed) Institutes of Karnataka through this exam.
Whereas the COMEDK is Private Autonomous Body wherein various Private Institutes of Karnataka have formed a centralized system for Entrance Tests, Counseling & Seat Allotment of eligible students into member Colleges (Private Institutions) of COMEDK.

COMEDK:
COMEDK stands for "Consortium of Medical, Engineering & Dental Colleges of Karnataka". COMEDK is responsible for screening of Indian and NRI students for admissions into Engineering, Medical & Dental UG Programs in various Institutes of Karnataka, India.
COMEDK was formed by KPCF (Karnataka Professional Colleges Foundation) for engineering, there exists an association under COMEDK which is KUPECA (Karnataka Unaided Private Engineering College Association) of which 190 private Engg.
Institutes are a part of, making a total of 20,000 seats.
This article is focused on all the details an Indian and NRI student would need to know about Engineering Admissions based on the results of Entrance Tests under COMEDK.
Every Year COMEDK Conducts Entrance Tests Named:

ComedK Uni-GAUGE
Both of these are the same exams but the only difference is that they have different scorecards & their Counselling Bodies & Participating Colleges are different as well.
Based on the results of these 2 tests, merit / qualified students is allotted seat institutes under KUPECA (Engg. Colleges under ComedK). NRI Students can also appear for these tests to take engineering admissions.
After the Results of COMEDK Tests are released, Counseling & Seat Allotment is conducted for admissions of qualified candidates. Students can also take admissions in B.Arch Courses through their NATA Score or their JEE Paper 2 Score.

Note:
- You must also make a note that along with COMEDK UGET. Indian and NRIs can also apply for Uni-GAUGE as these both are the same exams.
- 8% of the seats are reserved for candidates from the state of Karnataka. The remaining seats are for students from other states and NRI Students.
Eligibility Criteria for Karnataka UG Engineering and Architecture Tests / Admissions:
COMEDK UGET and Uni-GAUGE Eligibility Criteria for UG Engineering Courses (B.E. / B.Tech):

NRI & Indian Students who are high school Graduates (Grade 12th pass or whose results are about to be released in the same year) with minimum Marks/Percentage of 45% for General Category (& 40 % for SC/ST/ OBC Category of Karnataka state only) are eligible.

The subjects for the last two years of education must comprise Physics, Mathematics, a 3rd Subject. The student must have cleared/passed these 3 subjects individually with 45% marks (for general category) or 40% (for SC/ST/OBC of Karnataka state only).

Physics & Mathematics are mandatory subjects & any one of the following optional subjects must be present- Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Biology, Computer Science & Electronics.

Because there are no lateral entry admissions (in the 2nd Year of the Bachelor's Programme), Diploma Students are not considered eligible for COMEDK UGET & Uni-GAUGE.
COMEDK Eligibility Criteria For UG Architecture Courses (B.Arch / B. Planning):

No separate test is conducted by ComedK for B.Arch Admissions. Instead, the scores of ‘NATA’ or ‘JEE Paper 2’ score is considered for Counseling & Seat Allocation Process.

Candidate must have appeared for NATA (conducted by Council of Architecture, India) with a minimum score of 80 out of 200 (for all category students- General/ SC/ST/OBC).

Candidate must have cleared Grade 12th (or its equivalent eg. High School Graduate) from a recognized Board with 50% marks in Physics, Maths & Chemistry in all these 3 subjects & overall as well.

Such eligible aspirants will be made to submit a separate application form (on COMDEK’s website) for Counseling & Seat Allotment sessions.

KCET:
KCET stands for "Karnataka Common Entrance Test". KCET is conducted and managed by KEA (Karnataka Examination Authority).
KCET is a state-level offline Entrance Exam held for admissions of Indian and NRI students into Engineering (B.Tech / B.Arch), Pharmacy (B.Pharm), Farm Science, AYUSH & Medicine courses in various govt.
Institutes of Karnataka, India. Although for B.Arch admissions, scores of NATA & JEE Paper 2 are considered for Counseling & Seat Allocation.
Similarly, for admission into Medical & Dental courses, NEET Results are considered for Counseling & Seat Allocation as KCET Medical Entrance has been discontinued.

NRI / PIO / OCI Students Eligibility Criteria for KCET 2022:
NRI / PIO / OCI Students are partially Eligible for KCET 2022. They just have to satisfy the following conditions:

Candidate's father has a government job and he is posted in Karnataka.

Candidate has any land or property in Karnataka.

Candidate must have passed in Grade 10th and 12th from Karnataka.
KCET Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech / B.E. Courses:

The applicant must be a citizen of India.

Applicant must have passed Class 12/2nd PUC or any equivalent exam with Maths & Physics as mandatory subjects.
