JEE Main Reservation Criteria has been released by National Testing Agency (NTA) for General, Other Backward Classes (OBC), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) Women Candidates, Economically Weaker Section, and Person with Disability.
Candidates who are going to appear JEE Main or Who has already passed from JEE Main and looking for admission in the IITs, NITs, IIITs, & CFTIs. So this information is really informative for all the candidates.
JEE Main Reservation Criteria
JEE Main category-wise reservation criteria are tabulated below:

JEE Main Home State Reservation & Other State Reservation
Every Institute or University has reserved seats on 2 criteria:
1. Home State Quota – This reservation policy for the JEE Main is applicable for only those aspirants who have cleared their Class 12th or equivalent exam from the particular state. Example:- A student of Kerala, who cleared his 11th and 12th from Kerala got the home state quota in Kerala state.
2.Other State Quota – This reservation policy is applicable for those JEE Main aspirants who are applying from other states and union territories, apart from the home state. Example:- If a student belongs from Maharashtra and wants to get admission in Kerala state then he can apply for Other State Quota through which they can reserve his seat under 50% seat for other state quotas.

JEE Main Reservation Criteria For Open Category
The open category defines all the castes. This category clearly defines that any candidate from any group of caste can take admission on the basis of merit of their rank or percentile.
They keep some seats for the reserved category like SC/ST/OBC etc & some are open categories where anyone can apply for that either General, SC/ST/OBC, etc.
JEE Main Reservation Criteria for OBC-NCL
There is a list of other backward classes (OBC) where only those candidates can take admission on that seat who belong to the OBC category. No other class of candidate can appear on that particular seat. There are a total of 27% seats available in OBC.
JEE Main Reservation Criteria for ST
There is a list of scheduled Tribe (ST) where only those candidates can take admission on that seat who belong to the ST category. No other class of candidate can appear on that particular seat. There are a total of 7.5% seats available in ST.
JEE Main Reservation Criteria for SC
There is a list of Scheduled Caste (SC)where only those candidates can take admission on that seat who belong to the SC category. No other class of candidate can appear on that particular seat. There are a total of 15% seats available in SC.
JEE Main Reservation Criteria for Women
In all the Engineering Institutes in India, there has been a minimum of 5% reserved seats for the women category. JEE Main Female applicants can also apply through this category.
JEE Main Reservation Criteria for EWS
Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates are those candidates whose family annual income is less ten 8 lakh rupees and who do not belong to any category such as SC/ST/OBC.
Who can’t access the EWS quota?
Its depend on what the family income is, if the candidates fall under any of the following given detail then they can’t avail the benefits of EWS quota:
- Candidates who have own a residential flat of 1,000 sq. feet and above.
- Candidates whose families have agricultural land of own 5 acres and above
- Candidates whose parents own a plot of 100 sq. yards residential and above in notified municipalities.
- Candidates whose parents own a plot of 200 sq. yards and above residential in areas other than the notified municipalities.
JEE Main Reservation Criteria for PwD
PWD means Persons with disabilities which has 40% or above the degree of disability will enjoy a 3% reservation in each of the categories, i.e. in SC, ST, OBC, and in General Category, and such candidates, For PWD candidates, there shall be a relaxation of 5% marks in aggregate
JEE Main Reservation Criteria for NITs
National Institute of Technology (NIT) has reserved 50% of total seats for their Home state candidates and remaining 50% of seats are reserved for Outsiders
Note: For States and Union Territories without NIT, the following NITs will be considered as their state quota.

JEE Main Reservation Criteria for DASA / CIWG
JEE Main reservation criteria for DASA/CIWG candidates are the same for all the NRI students, PIO students, and OCI Students. Direct Admission Student Abroad is generally called DASA. The total reserved seats in all the CFTIs under DASA is 3932 seats.
And 1/3rd of the total DASA seats are reserved for Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries generally known as CIWG which is around 1310 seats.
