All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), located in Patna, was established in 2012 with the major aim to impart quality medical-education, research and training at higher standards for the betterment of the country. The autonomous institute of AIIMS, Patna is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and National Medical Commission (NMC). A well-versed faculty at the co-ed institute is dedicated to providing the best learning and training experience for students in the field of Medical Sciences. Guest lecturers are also invited to the institute for the betterment of students.
Undergraduate courses offered by the Government institute include an MBBS course with a duration of 5.5 years and B.Sc (Hons) Nursing course with a duration of 4 years. Admission is conducted online. Students are required to pass the Higher Secondary Examination from any recognised board. Eligible candidates must appear for the AIIMS, Patna paramedical examination to get admitted to the AIIMS, Patna's B.Sc.(H) Nursing programme. To get admission to the MBBS programme, candidates must qualify the NEET exam. The selection process is based on scores secured in entrance exams.
Meritorious girls from financially challenged backgrounds can avail the Winnie Sun Merit Cum Need Based Scholarship. Apart from this, various scholarship schemes such as Scholarships of MPSF, Merit Based Scholarships are also available for students.
Students are provided with internship opportunities during the course. They are helped by the placement cell of the AIIMS, Patna to obtain practical knowledge for the future. Students get opportunities to work in reputed organizations and institutes in and out of the state.
The AIIMS, Patna comprises basic academic facilities such as a traditional library, a digital library, central laboratories comprising three sections like biochemistry, microbiology, and pathology, on-campus Wi-Fi access, air-conditioned smart classrooms and a well equipped auditorium. Besides, there are sports complexes including a football and cricket ground, on-campus ATM facility, a cafeteria, and medical facilities available for students.
