ragati Engineering College, Surampalem was founded in 2001 under Gayatri Educational Society. The College was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Nara Chandrababu Naidu. The Institute lies with an area of 25 acres of land providing various academic and infrastructural facilities. Pragati Engineering College is affiliated to the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Kakinada. The Institute is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The Institute currently offers admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. A total of 1020 seats are offered to B.Tech admissions and 108 seats are offered to M.Tech admissions
