If you hail from a Gulf country and you’re eligible for both the schemes, it would be better to take the decision based on your self-confidence. If you’re super confident about admitting the highly-qualified colleges in India, apply for both the options. You’re shown both the CIWG and DASA choices separately and you can apply for both the schemes. DASA made this amendment 2 years back and it’s the best decision DASA has ever made. Prior to this, CIWG students wouldn’t be able to apply for both the schemes. They had to stick to one scheme - DASA or CIWG. But now, CIWG applicants can apply for both the schemes - CIWG and DASA. If a CIWG applicant fails to get admission in CIWG scheme, he can get admission in DASA scheme. If you’re super confident about your admission in your prospective college, then apply for the CIWG scheme alone.
DASA wants you to submit 3 SAT Subject Test scores - SAT Physics, SAT Chemistry & SAT Mathematics. Whereas, JEE is an exam taken by millions of students to onboard the renowned engineering colleges of India.
If you’ve not opted for Physics in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, you won’t be eligible to DASA scheme as DASA applicants must have successfully completed 3 subjects - Mathematics, Physics & One of the subjects from Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer Science, Biology in 11th and 12th grade. So you won’t be eligible for DASA scheme.
Yeah, you are eligible for DASA 2019 scheme as you finished your 11th and 12th grade abroad. According to DASA, applicants who studied 11th and 12th grade abroad in the past 8 years are eligible. That is, if you born on or before October 1, 1994 and finished your 11th and 12th grade in the last 8 years are obviously eligible. As you’re from Dubai, so you’re eligible for CIWG admission stream. If you born on or before October 1, 1994 and accomplished your 11th and 12th in Russia, you would be eligible for DASA (Non-SAARC) admission stream.
Note: If you hail from a country other than the CIWG ones, TestprepKart strongly recommends you to check the Appendix - 1, which is at very end of the DASA brochure. You will get a clear idea after examining this Appendix – 1 article.

My Kids are US citizen but studying 11th & 12 in India . will they be eligible under DASA scheme ?
Sir i am studying India from 9th on wards. Now i am doing 12th (Senior Inter Andhra Pradesh) . But My father is working in Oman. Am i Eligible for CIWG scheme. If yes. What Test i should Write for Eligibility. Pls kindly let me know. Regards Manish
Hi Manish, In this scenario you are not eligible for CIWG scheme. There is a residential requirement for CIWG scheme, that you should complete your 11th and 12th from Middle East county to be eligible for CIWG. So, in this situation you will be treated as normal indian students and not as NRI student. Hope this clarifies. Thanks, Team TestprepKart
If I am working in Gulf and my son is studying in India for 11th & 12th , will my son be eligible for CIWG only or both CIWG and DASA.
Sir, If you son is studying in India for 11th and 12th. Then in that case you are not eligible for CIWG or DASA at all. He will be treated at normal indian student. NRI Factor will not come in effect.
I worked more than 10 years in Gulf and returned to India 3 months back on vacation and trying to go back again with in 3 months. presently my VISA and KSA Residential card valid upto Nov 2019 and have all other DASA admission required documents. And my daughter studied her education upto 12th standard in India only. And she also written JEE Mains Exam and got the Rank and also applied for NIT under JOSAA 2019. Now my daughter interested for getting of admission in NIT college through DASA/ CIWG scheme. So, is she eligible for OR not , if so is she should SAT certificate Or not?
If the SAT scores are being replaced by JEE Mains for NIT eligibility will OCI (PIO) candidates be eligible for NRI/DASA scheme or do they now compete with local students in General category?
Dear Mr. Balraj, Everything will remain same except that instead of SAT 2 - students now need to write JEE Main and based on their ranks they will be allotted NITs. Thanks, Team TestprepKart
