MAA already owns dates, host registration, and AIME rules. Our job is different: prepare Grades 8-10 with the AMC 10 scoring mindset (blank credit is real), November A/B planning, and an honest AIME conversation.

AMC 10 sits above AMC 8 and beside early high-school course work. Families who treat blank strategy like AMC 8 leave points on the table.
| Eligibility | Grade 10 or below and under 17.5 years of age on the day of the competition. |

1 / 0 / 0 scoring. Blank equals wrong. Guess remaining items.
6 / 1.5 / 0 scoring. Blank can beat a bad guess. Max 150.
Example 2026-27 MAA dates below. Re-check maa.org/amcreg before you plan travel or tutoring taper.
Early host registration. Hosts lock early-bird fees. Ask the school now, not in late October.
Regular / late host deadlines. New managers face earlier cutoffs than returning ones. Confirm live deadlines.
AMC 10 A. First sitting. Review carefully before deciding on B.
AMC 10 B. Second chance. Requires a separate student license. Higher score counts for AIME qualification rules.
For 2026-27, MAA states AMC 10 scores of 100 or above (with other eligibility met) qualify students to register for AIME. Policies can change by cycle; always verify on maa.org.
Recent MAA guidance describes AIME as scheduled by the student at Pearson centers during a published February window, with no alternate dates. We help with Math prep; families handle scheduling logistics.

Strong Grade 8 students can sit AMC 10, especially after AMC 8. Later problems still assume more algebra fluency than AMC 8.
Eligible early · AMC 10 is grade 10 and below (age rules apply)
Algebra I course strength helps, but AMC 10 still rewards contest moves beyond chapter tests.
Common AMC 10 year · Algebra I / geometry contest mix
Grade 10 is the last standard AMC 10 year. Strong scorers look toward AIME and later AMC 12. Geometry course work helps some items; contest counting still needs separate practice.
Last AMC 10 year for most · AIME / AMC 12 conversations begin
School/approved site, A only vs A and B licenses.
Use Grade 8-10 hubs for the academic spine.
1:1 or group AMC-style problem solving.
75-minute rehearsals with blank-strategy review.
After A, decide on B and whether AIME prep starts.
Done well, AMC 10 builds contest stamina and an informed AIME decision. Done poorly, it becomes AMC 8 advice on a longer clock. We coach the first path.
Many of our Grades 8-10 families are Indian-origin or NRI and ask about AMC 10 / AIME early. Indian faculty teach in English, explain host registration and blank scoring, and keep Algebra/Geometry course prep aligned.

The American Mathematics Competition 10 from the Mathematical Association of America. It is a 25-question, 75-minute multiple-choice contest for students in grade 10 and below.
AMC 10 awards 6 points for correct, 1.5 for blank, and 0 for wrong (max 150). AMC 8 awards 1 / 0 / 0 with no blank credit. On AMC 10, leaving a hopeless item blank can beat a wrong guess.
Yes, when the score meets MAA's published AIME qualification rule for that cycle. For 2026-27, MAA states students scoring 100 or above on AMC 10 (and meeting other eligibility rules) qualify to register for AIME. Always confirm the live policy on maa.org. AMC 8 does not qualify anyone for AIME.
Two dates each cycle: A and B in November. For 2026-27 MAA lists AMC 10 A on Nov 5, 2026 and AMC 10 B on Nov 13, 2026. A student may take both; the higher score is used for AIME qualification rules.
Through an MAA-approved competition host (school, university, learning center, math circle). Parents ask the school first. Hosts buy registration and student licenses; a student taking both A and B needs two licenses.
Hosts pay MAA early/regular/late registration fees plus student bundles (recently $30 per 10-license AMC 10 bundle). Families usually pay the host's pass-through cost. Confirm live figures on maa.org/amcreg. Tutoring is separate USD pricing on our hubs.
Grade 10 or below, and under 17.5 years of age on the day of the competition.
Invited students receive instructions to register/schedule AIME (for 2027, MAA describes Pearson testing-center administration with a separate fee). AIME is invite-only and not automatic just because a student sat AMC 10.
