These are not Grades 3-8 spring surveys. They are end-of-course exams tied to Algebra I or Geometry, with real graduation weight in some states. This page is the counselor map: which exam, which course skills, how scores read, and what we offer next.
State sites already publish calendars, Family Portal logins, and score guides. Our job is different: turn the course your child is finishing into a weekly Algebra or Geometry plan mapped to our Grade 8-10 hubs, with clear honesty about graduation stakes.

Scan this first. Official portals own dates and access codes. We own the tutoring plan for the course your child is finishing.
| Family name | Algebra I and Geometry end-of-course (EOC) exams, including STAAR EOC, Florida B.E.S.T. EOCs, and NY Regents |
|---|---|
| What it is | High-school course assessments taken when the student completes Algebra I or Geometry (timing varies by campus) |
| Who takes it | Students enrolled in the course, including some Grade 8 Algebra I students and retesters |
| Parent registration | None for typical public-school windows. School / district schedules students. |
| Parent test fee | None to the state for typical public administrations. Tutoring fees are separate. |
| Typical windows | End of course (spring common); Texas and Florida also offer additional EOC administrations; NY Regents January / June / August |
| Our coaching band | Grades 8-10 US families, including NRI and Indian-origin students |
Parents mix up Grade 8 Math STAAR, Algebra I EOC, Geometry EOC, and Regents. The useful question is simpler: which course is on the transcript this term, and which exam does that campus attach to it?
| Eligibility | Students completing Algebra I or Geometry (or listed equivalent courses) in states/districts that assign a course exam. Includes mid-year finishers and retesters when the school schedules them. |
|---|---|
| How to register | No parent self-registration for standard public windows. Ask the campus testing coordinator or counselor which administration your child is in. |
| Fees | Typical public-school administration: no parent test fee. TestPrepKart tutoring is optional and priced in USD on the Grade 8-10 hubs. |
| Our coaching band | Grades 8-10, including NRI and Indian-origin families, with Indian faculty teaching in English on US course standards. |
We are not rewriting texasassessment.gov, flfast.org, or nysedregents.org. We pair what those sites own with what a counselor actually schedules next.
| Exam family | What official sites cover | What TestPrepKart adds |
|---|---|---|
| STAAR EOC (Texas) | Family Portal access codes, Understanding Your Child's Score, Approaches/Meets/Masters, administration calendars. | TEKS-aligned weekly Algebra I (or Geometry) tutoring from the report categories, tied to our Grade 9/10 hubs. |
| Florida B.E.S.T. EOC | Algebra 1 / Geometry EOC fact sheets, Levels 1-5 scale bands, family report guides, graduation rule pages. | B.E.S.T.-aware unit plan from reporting categories, plus honest talk about graduation Algebra 1 requirements vs tutoring scope. |
| NY Regents Algebra I / Geometry | Past exams, rating guides, conversion charts, January/June/August schedules on NYSED / Regents sites. | Practice that includes constructed-response writing habits, not only multiple choice, mapped to our course hubs. |
Starting points: texasassessment.gov, fldoe.org end-of-course pages / flfast.org, nysedregents.org Algebra I and Geometry. Always confirm windows with your school.
EOC pages that hide graduation weight feel dishonest. Pages that pretend a tutor replaces the counselor also fail. Here is the middle path.
If your child needs a retest, tell us the next administration date. We build a short, high-leverage plan instead of restarting the whole course from chapter 1.
Linear and quadratic fluency, functions, systems, and modeling stories. This is the Grade 9 Math Prep spine for most Traditional Pathway students.
Congruence, similarity, proof habits, right-triangle trig, circles, and measurement. This is the Grade 10 Math Prep spine.
We do not invent cut scores. We teach you the language on the report, then pick units.
Did Not Meet · Approaches · Meets · Masters Grade Level. Approaches or higher is passing. TEA publishes scale-score tables per administration (Algebra I spring tables include Approaches / Meets / Masters cut points). Family Portal shows items and supports for spring tests.
Levels 1-5 on a B.E.S.T. scale roughly 325-475. Level 3 is on grade level. Published Algebra 1 Level 3 starts at 400; Geometry has its own Level 3 band. Reports also break out reporting categories teachers use.
Multiple-choice plus constructed-response parts. Raw score converts to a 0-100 scale with that administration's chart. Written work is scored with NYSED rating guides. Practice must include explaining, not only selecting.
Minutes, calculator policy, and accommodations are school-published. We match practice to those rules instead of guessing.
EOC prep fails when we pretend every Grade 9 student has the same test. Use the tabs, then open that grade's hub.
Many Grade 8 students take Algebra I and face an Algebra I EOC / course exam that year. Others stay in Grade 8 Math and meet Algebra I later. Placement is by course, not by birthday.
Early Algebra I · or Grade 8 Math + later EOC
This is the typical Algebra I year. The exam is about the course your child finishes, not a generic Grade 9 survey. Linear and quadratic fluency plus function language drive most reports.
Algebra I course · STAAR EOC / Florida Algebra 1 EOC / Regents Algebra I
Most Grade 10 students sit Geometry. Some still need Algebra I retests for graduation. We coach the course on the schedule plus any retest path the counselor names.
Geometry course · Geometry EOC / Regents Geometry (or Algebra I retest)
STAAR EOC, Florida EOC, Regents, or another course exam. Note retest dates.
Align to Grade 9 Algebra I or Grade 10 Geometry units your child still owes.
1:1 or group tutoring in English on US course pacing.
Short sets that match your state's item types, including written work when needed.
Plain notes on what improved, what still wobbles, and the next two weeks.
A useful EOC story is which Algebra or Geometry strands are solid, which need work before the next window, and whether graduation rules add a retest clock.
Many of our Grade 8-10 families are Indian-origin or NRI. Tutors teach in English and explain STAAR / Florida / Regents score language without assuming you grew up with those portals.
A live 1:1 session on the course your child is finishing. You leave with a written plan, enroll or not.
No. Grade 8 STAAR Math is a grade-level test. Algebra I EOC (and Florida Algebra 1 EOC, NY Algebra I Regents) are course exams. A Grade 8 student in Algebra I may take the Algebra I course exam that year instead of, or in addition to, other state Math rules. Ask the campus testing coordinator which tests are assigned.
For public-school administrations, families usually do not buy a parent seat. The school schedules the exam when the student completes the course. Tutoring fees are separate if you hire TestPrepKart.
We focus on three common parent conversations: Texas STAAR EOC (Algebra I; Geometry when the campus assigns it), Florida B.E.S.T. Algebra 1 and Geometry EOCs, and New York Regents Algebra I / Geometry. Other states use different course-exam names. Bring your course syllabus and we map prep to it.
Florida public-school graduation rules include a required Algebra 1 EOC path (with concordant / comparative options published by FDOE for some students). Exact passing scale scores depend on when the student first participates. Confirm the current requirement with the school counselor. We prep the Math; we do not replace district graduation counseling.
STAAR uses Did Not Meet, Approaches, Meets, and Masters Grade Level. Approaches or higher is passing for STAAR. Cut scores for scale bands are published by TEA for each administration. We read your child's report and build a unit plan; we do not invent a private cut score.
Florida reports Levels 1-5 on the B.E.S.T. scale (about 325-475 for Algebra 1 and Geometry). Level 3 is on grade level. Algebra 1 Level 3 begins at scale score 400 on the published table. Geometry has its own Level 3 band. We use overall level plus reporting categories to choose weekly topics.
Regents Math exams combine multiple-choice and constructed-response parts. Teachers score constructed responses with NYSED rating guides. Raw totals convert to a 0-100 scale score with a conversion chart for that administration. We practice both item types; we do not promise a scale number.
No honest tutor can. We can show a gap plan tied to your course standards, a weekly rhythm, and progress notes.
Texas: texasassessment.gov (Family Portal, Understanding Your Child's Score). Florida: fldoe.org EOC pages and flfast.org family report guides. New York: nysed.gov / nysedregents.org for Algebra I and Geometry. We link the ideas here; we do not host those portals.
Grades 3-8 STAAR is usually grade-level Math. Algebra I and Geometry EOCs are course-based end-of-course exams (including STAAR EOC in Texas, plus Florida EOCs and NY Regents patterns we explain on this page). Graduation and course-credit stakes differ by state.
Rules vary by state and form. Many Algebra I / Geometry EOCs allow a graphing or scientific calculator on part or all of the test. Confirm the exact policy for your state and practice with that same tool.
