CBSE is Planning for Two Math Papers

The CBSE Board has received this request from several Schools and Principals across India, to propose the two editions of Mathematics Paper for Classes 9, 10, 11, and 12.

The CBSE is examining the proposal of introducing two Math’s Paper at the High School level so that those students who don’t have much interest in Mathematics in their higher studies don’t have to sit for the tougher edition.

The objective of the Proposal:

The objective behind this proposal is that those students who don’t want to pursue Mathematics at higher level would be able to avoid the tag that they are not good at Mathematics if they score low at the High School Level.

Significance of this Proposal according to Testprepkart:

According to Testprepkart, those students who have to pursue Engineering and want to sit for the JEE Main and Advanced Examinations have to give the tougher level of Mathematics Paper, and those who want to pursue Medical at their Higher studies have the choice to sit for easier level.

For students who want to study Economics and Medicine don’t need to study higher-level Mathematics at the high school, as it affects the overall performance of their academic career and by choosing the easier level of Mathematics at least they will have a choice.

Students who have to study Mathematics at a higher level will have subjects like Calculus, while others who don’t want need not study Calculus.

Other School Boards that follows the same Practice:

There are several other school boards which are following this practice, Like the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGSCE) provide two Curriculum one is Core curriculum and the other one is Extended Curriculum, Core is generally for the large majority of the students while Extended is for those students who are more academically able. The IB Curriculum also follows this practice.

Goyal ( IIT, Kanpur), HOD of Maths at Testprepkart, delivered his own views on proposing two editions of Mathematics by saying that “It will improve the overall performance of their academic career and students those who don’t want to pursue Mathematics at a higher level will focus more on their “Main Subject” that they want to pursue later on.”

As most of the students have fear complex to Mathematics, so by proposing two editions of Mathematics (One is “Tougher” while the other one “Easier”) will be a great move for those students who don’t want Mathematics as their subject for higher studies.
