TestPrepKart Math Prep · United States
Live classes with 3-5 students in the same Grade 6 band. Same Common Core Grade 6 hub syllabus as 1:1 (6.RP, 6.NS, 6.EE, 6.G, 6.SP), English instruction, and a fixed weekly slot that costs less than private 1:1.
Parents usually want three answers: how many kids share the slot, whether every child still speaks, and how you will know it is working.
This is a shared Grade 6 coaching plan. Same major work as 1:1, with peer practice that keeps cost lower.
Grade 6 hub syllabus: 6.RP ratios and rates, 6.NS fraction division and rational numbers, 6.EE expressions and equations, 6.G area/surface/volume, 6.SP statistics, plus school homework support.
Two fixed weekly slots in your US time zone, 40-55 minutes each. Seats are confirmed after the demo.
Unit checks across the year, plus a short weekly parent note with accuracy and the next home practice.
Group classes run on a published weekly time. Your counselor matches you to an open Grade 6 seat in Pacific, Mountain, Central, or Eastern.
A June-start Grade 6 group calendar that tracks ratios, rational numbers, expressions and equations, then geometry and statistics. Your live plan is adjusted to school pacing after the demo.

Tentative plan for a June-start Grade 6 group batch (about 94 live classes across 12 months). If your child joins mid-year, we place them in an open seat and rebuild the remaining months after the free demo.
Same Grade 6 hub syllabus as 1:1: ratios, rational numbers, and expressions/equations with Common Core codes, mastery, and the stumbles we watch for in a small group.
6.RP
6.RP.A
Major
A ratio compares two quantities. Grade 6 is when your child learns to say the comparison in words and symbols, not only as a fraction that happens to look similar.
A unit rate answers per one: miles per hour, price per ounce. This is the bridge from ratios to the proportional reasoning Grade 7 will lean on.
Tables, tape diagrams and percents turn ratio thinking into tools for shopping, recipes and unit conversions.
Treating a ratio like a single fraction to add, or mixing units mid-rate.
Parent tip: Cook or mix drinks with a written ratio card. Ask “for every… there are…” before they compute.
6.NS
6.NS.A
Major
Dividing fractions by fractions is a Grade 6 milestone. Models come before the keep-change-flip shortcut.
6.NS.B
Major
Fluent multi-digit division keeps later algebra from stalling on arithmetic. Place-value strategies still matter.
The four operations with multi-digit decimals should feel steady, not lucky with the decimal point.
GCF and LCM are not trivia. They tidy fractions, factor expressions and solve sharing problems.
6.NS.C
Major
Negatives arrive with meaning: temperature below zero, debt, elevation. Context comes before rules.
Rational numbers live on the number line and on the full coordinate plane, including all four quadrants.
Ordering and absolute value ask which number is farther from zero, not which looks bigger with a minus sign.
Distance on the plane uses absolute value when points share a coordinate. Geometry and number sense meet.
Keep-change-flip without meaning, or thinking negatives are “just smaller positives.”
Parent tip: Weather and bank-balance stories make negatives concrete. Ask which is colder: −3 or −8?
6.EE
6.EE.A
Major
Whole-number exponents are repeated multiplication written cleanly. 2^5 is not 2 × 5.
Write, read and evaluate expressions with variables. Substituting a value carefully is a Grade 6 habit.
Properties make equivalent expressions. Distributing and combining like terms start here, gently.
Two expressions are equivalent when they name the same quantity for every value. This idea feeds algebra.
6.EE.B
Major
Solving means finding which values make an equation true. Guess-and-check with understanding beats magic steps.
A letter stands for a number in a story. Choosing the variable and writing the expression is the hard part.
One-step equations with positive numbers: add, subtract, multiply or divide to isolate the variable.
Inequalities describe a set of solutions on a number line, not one answer. That shift surprises many students.
6.EE.C
Major
Independent and dependent variables: as one changes, the other responds. Tables and graphs tell the story.
Guess-and-check only, or treating the equal sign as “write the answer” instead of balance.
Parent tip: Have them read an equation aloud as a balance. Substitute the solution back every time.
6.G
6.G.A
Major
Area of triangles and special polygons uses composition and the triangle formula with understanding.
Volume with fractional edge lengths extends Grade 5 packing. Unit cubes can be fractional now.
Polygons drawn on the coordinate plane use distance and absolute value to find side lengths and area.
Nets unfold a solid so surface area becomes area of faces you can see flat.
Using base × height for triangles without the 1/2, or mixing area units with volume units.
Parent tip: Cut paper nets once. Seeing faces before the formula prevents surface-area mix-ups.
6.SP
6.SP.A
Major
A statistical question expects variability in the answers. How old are students in this class is statistical; how old is Sam is not.
Distributions have center, spread and shape. Your child describes a data set, not only picks a favorite number.
Mean, median and measures of variability each answer a different question about the data.
6.SP.B
Major
Dot plots, histograms and box plots display the same data with different strengths.
Summarizing a data set means reporting number of observations, center, spread and what the context allows you to say.
Reporting only the mean when the shape is skewed, or ignoring outliers in talk.
Parent tip: Collect a tiny class data set (hours of sleep, scores). Ask what the graph shows before any formula.

We coach small-group live classes for Grade 6 students across the United States on US school and Common Core pacing. We also specifically support NRI and Indian-origin families living in the US.
Lessons follow your child’s US school topics, homework, and state-style practice. English instruction stays the default so school language and coaching language match.
TestPrepKart is based in India and works with Indian faculty who teach US Grade 6 math online. Many NRI students find the first principles easier to grasp when the tutor can explain patiently in a familiar teaching style, while still staying locked to the US curriculum.
You get US-aligned Grade 6 coaching plus tutors who understand how Indian-origin learners often build number sense. That mix helps when a child is strong in drills but needs clearer word-problem language for US school tests.
Core coaching for the year. If your child later needs a private topic pack, that is a separate option.

A live session so your child feels the teaching style. You leave with seat options, schedule choices, and a written plan.
From $14 USD per class on a 12-month plan, about $1456 per year at two classes a week. Your counselor confirms open seats in the free demo.
3 to 5 students in the same Grade 6 band. Batches stay small so every child still answers aloud and gets homework notes.
Yes. The year plan follows the Grade 6 hub syllabus and quarters: Jun-Jul ratios and unit rates, Aug-Oct fraction division then decimals/GCF and integers, Nov-Feb expressions and equations, Mar-May area/surface/volume and statistics.
Same Grade 6 curriculum and English instruction. You share the slot with a few peers, so the per-class price is lower. Private 1:1 is still available if you want a dedicated tutor.
Yes, when a seat opens. After the demo we place your child in the best-fit batch and rebuild the remaining months around school pacing.
English, for US school students.
Yes. We coach Grade 6 math for US school students nationwide, and we specifically support NRI and Indian-origin families in the United States. Our Indian faculty teach US curriculum topics in English, which helps many NRI students understand basic principles more clearly while staying aligned to Common Core and school pacing.
